Post subject:  Torque on oil drain plug?/paranoid

I'm paranoid the stealership didn't do my LOF w/ 0W-40 synthetic Mobile 1. I searched L.O.S.T. and my service manual but couldn't figure out the exact size and torque for the plug.

My I've taken the CRD to the same dealer it's entire life and looking thru my paperwork half my invoices have diesel oil changes specified and others say regular LOF. Just a gut feeling I have but oil looks/smells the same. Just a gut feeling I have and EVIC was reset to 3K interval from 6K?!

Can dino oil and/or the wrong weight cause long term damage?? Also, I don't want to remove the oil filter because it's a brand new AMSOIL.

Thanks

I wouldn't stress.you'll be ok.
Any reason you don't change yourself?
That's the only way to really know what goes in there.
As far as torque, just tighten it good.
Sooner or later it's gonna strip on ya,and you'll be calling fumoto.Just a matter of time.

Get a Fumoto valve and do your own oil changes. NO need to worry about stripping your oil drain plug and only a quick flip of a lever to drain oil (its in a detent and is safe) It takes less than 10 minuets with one of these valves! I should have gotten one of these years ago.

If you are concerned about your oil, drain it and put in the good stuff. No need to worry about replacing the oil filter, that little amount of oil in it won't affect anything. I have used 0w-40, 5w-40, 15w-40 and now am running 10w-30 Rotella. Some report best engine wear with 15w-40 from oil analysisl

Only reason I don't do it myself is lifetime oil changes only cost me an extra $500 when I purchased the CRD new. I confirmed it covered both gassers and diesels so it seemed like a good deal considering the cost of the synthetic lube. So all I ever pay for is the tire rotations each interval.

Blake.

It's only a good deal if they're using synthetic oil :) The dealer I got mine from keeps trying to sell me $19.99 oil changes and I keep reminding him it's a diesel

the invoices normally have the oil part #, see it it is consistent across all your invoices. That is how I found my dealer using dino 15-40 instead of what a Dealer should be using which is the Mobil 0-40 syn. It is also how I saw that they were using 9 freaking quarts to fill it up to the "full" line on dipstick...... which then caused the engine to "throw overboard" the extra.....

oil part # was consistant on all invoices, service manager confirmed they have the synthetic mobile 1 in bulk. I ordered Fumoto (w/o nipple) from Greg @ Lubrication Specialist today. Will swap once unit arrives.

ask to see the mobile 1 syn 0-40 in bulk... I'll bet they don't have it. the CRD and the Crossfire to my knowledge are the only 2 Chrysler/Jeep vehicles that require that oil, hardly enough on the road for any dealer to buy that oil in bulk.

My dealer was using 5-40 Synthetic in mine as they did not stock 0-40 since the CRD was the only one that used it.

Have them install the Fumoto when they d the next oil change and they will like it too but they will suggest the tranny skid if it is not already installed. They would be right.
