Can you guys check underhood and see what the part number is on your FCV? It's on the forward face of it and pretty easy to see. Mine says 39002015F , but that doesn't turn up any hits in the search. Everyone who has had theirs replaced says it was 5142799AA that was installed. That must be the upgraded version. I have not had mine replaced yet, even though it went bad. Going to take it in soon. |

Nope - that's the German oem p\n, not the DCJ p\n - if it was ever there it was on a paper tag, which blows away when the adhesive deteriorates |

Thanks, it seemed like a strange part number, and there was only a single web it on it in Google - some Italian web site. I took it out today to see if there was anything I could look at internally, but the end cap is swaged over the body of the valve, hiding all its mechanisms. Also stuck the camera up into the intake and got some nasty shots of the carbon caking the intake. Not PG-13. Been runninng the EHM since 9000 mi and the ORM since 19000. Currently sitting at 34000. |

Take a pair of end-nippers and un-swage it if you want to see - not really anything in there but nylon geartrain, no grease, nothing - runs dry for quick response - that's the whirring you should hear at shutdown - just pull it off the intake plenum, use good ole #2 to clean it, make sure the throttle-plate pushes up closed against the spring tension without binding and returns full 90* open by spring tension - other than that, it's the stepper motor bearings deteriorating from the snap-action FYI: the German company is Pierburg, same for the EGR solenoid valve assembly - ennybody got any relatives in Deutschland, could cut us a group-buy deal? |

Use a set of end-nipper wire cutters to lift up the swedged edges of the cover, pull it off and see if it's the stepper motor, the gears, or the bearings on the throttle-shaft that are locked - mine still zings when manually-operated |

Yep, smooth as silk now. As far as taking apart the old one, the dealer kept the core. The one on the right is out of the wife's Jeep, back in there and still working fine. |
