Hi guys sorry for the dumb Question but where would my FCV be as I don't have an electronic EGR I have a vacum operated one and to turn off the EGR all I had to do was plug the vacum as seen below

Blocked Egr

What to do

Or how to do it so it can't be seen

So do I have an FCV on my 2003 2.8LCRD Australian model? Also by plugging the vacum I can't really notice the difference when driving although my butt dyno tells me it is a bit smoother to drive.

I am looking for the FCV to be able to check how much crud is in there and if the butterfly needs removing as others have done. It should also be noted that I have (say once every 15-20 shut downs) had rougher shut downs the first time actually scared me that something was broken. Any help if you can would be great.

The early CRD's do not have the AFC valve - definitely not in '03, possibly not till '06, down under - so, you would find yours down at the dealership........if you even wanted one................

Thanks I don't really want one I was going to remove the butterfly to stop it from working but since I don't have one that is great news for me. I guess with my version of the engine it is a bit different when considering mods so still looking around for bit of info that are relievent to my CRD. Thanks for the quick reply

Ah those pictures reminds me of my 2003 CRD :)

I only had it for 6 months, unfortunately. I did get around to do quite a bit of small easy mods on it, I might be able to answer some other questions you may have, but don't rely too much on it :)

Thanks Uffe what else can be done to them shutting down the egr is about the limit of what I have done so far plus an amsoil filter looking at getting a snorkel and maybe a chip although don't know what that will do for me on this model as it has the standard turbo and since I am keeping it for sometime now I want to get a provent and have the intercooler flushed, getting a 2 inch lift and 245/75R16 tires Mickey Thompsons ATZ's for xmas.

PS I have cleaned the MAF sensor and had the radiator flushed and the auto box serviced and the usual servicing stuff.

Seems to me like you've got the bases covered well. I'd add in a boost and pyro gauge, if you're keen on that.

Most likely a chip will raise the rail pressure, but I'm not sure what they will do to your turbo if you want that to react as well. I think you should find out if a chip is really what you want, without a VGT I'd spend my money elsewhere. Which is what I did :D

The auto tranny is strong but is let down by the plastic stator in the torque converter, if you're up for the job you should get yourself a Suncoast aluminium one for better fuel economy and more POWER :D
