All these great little diesels being introduced overseas are just going to keep driving up the price of diesel over here in the states as more of the diesel from our refineries get sent to Europe.

I don't think thats the case, these engines are more efficient than there gasoline counterparts. Which will reduce demand for crude, they don't have there own refineries? :?

They are more efficient but the percentage of diesel vehicles in Europe and Asia keeps climbing at a pace fast enough to raise demand for diesel more so than for Gasoline.

Yes they have their own refineries. When I mentioned that "our refineries" ship overseas, I meant the refineries which historically supplied the us with diesel. Most US diesel is imported from refineries in Canada, the Caribbean, and other countries. When the price for X fuel climbs in a country halfway around the world it also affects the price here because if the price remained low in the US for example while the price in China was 50 cents higher, the fuel suppliers start shipping all of the fuel that they can over where there is a higher profit. This has the effect of causing a shortage here which raises the price to match. :(

I still think it does not make that big a difference, Diesel cars pale in comparision to the trucks on the road.

Because Diesel is still cheaper than Benzine (gas) in Europe. That is why the demand is higher.

The refining costs for diesel are lower than gas.
Diesel is not as refined.
Some say there is less diesel than gas in a barrel of oil, don't know about that.
The US consumer (gasoline) is rewarded at the expense of the worker (diesel) as in trucks, machinery, etc., by taxes, govinmint, can you spell EPA and trades for gasoline with EU.
It is all on the level, don't worry.
