Post subject:  Performance chipping

A friend from Florida will be visiting here in December and i'm tempted to ask him to bring a performance chip with him.

Seems that some have tried the Striker, read about the Edge, Unichip and Inmotion flashes etc.

What is a recommended chip, plug n play, that won't break my VM Motori in a hurry.

I love my Edge trail jammer. The response is great and it makes the libby much more fun to drive. Mileage is the same as before, but now I can pas people at highway speeds.

I picked up about 3 mpg with my Edge Trail Jammer, but possibly b/c I keep my foot out of it most of the time. It really does make a big difference in the handling. The car now feels "heavy" and slow if I turn the thing off.

It could be all the cats you're killing calling a Jeep a car.

Well i'm still not convinced what the better option would be, plug n play or reflash. If the reflash is done and you sell the vehicle you sell the flashed ECU with it, goodbye. If you are able to clone the ECU, you may be able to use it in another Jeep CRD. The plug n play you could disconnect and use in another Jeep CRD or perhaps another model of vehicle. That's what i don't know and need to find out, forum members. :?

Good luck if you have a problem. You are SCREWED!!!!
The module works fine, but there is NO customer service!
If you should need help, get your credit card out and be prepared to buy another one.

Its a fuel filter head made my Parker Racor..... a must mod for U.S spec CRD's with the plastic heater puck.

The Racor 245 - appears to be what Jeep used on the 2.5L diesels - it doesn't have the air leaks that the molded plastic does.

Where you referring to SP Diesel ?

Very happy with the performance of my Trailjammer Edge.

Either one. Painless Striker and SP Diesel are the same. Both are identical. (I know as I have opened them both up and the circuit board is the same in both, this is how I know). Also my little go-around with Painless, which directed me to SP Diesel, was a total joke. No way are they going to help! You want help, just buy another one of our products. If that don't work either, just buy another one. Oooops, sorry, no refund, no customer service. Hope you have lots of money as your going to need it.

Post subject:  Where can we get the plugs

Turbo Tim: Where can we get the plugs that attach to the MAP and FUEL rail? Are they Bosch? Does Wurth have them?
That way we can come up with our own version and tell both SP and Painless to have a NICE DAY (code for what I cant type on this forum).

I have not researched it but I'll bet those plugs are pricy. It would be much easier to just cut/splice the original harness to a WeatherPak connector to our/your new box.
If anyone here knows how to write code for a PIC Micro controller or Atmel controller, let me know. I can give you some information on what I have seen. Circuit is fairly simple, but it's the code for the mapping that I have trouble with.
Also note that from what I have seen, the boost is not fooled. It is used as a trigger to start the fuel pressure mapping.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Inmotion tune the only mod that adjust timing and duration? Don't all the "boxes" just increase rail pressure?

Trailerjammer also has boost fooling, for what its worth. Also the only box I've seen with realistic claims of what it actually does.

I went the cheap option and bought the CR Chip for around $300.

Same deal, you can adjust the settings and I have found it brilliant. Much better pickup and much more responsive, I haven't tried the other but I can do nothing but rave about the one I have.
