short article in Feb 09 issue of DieselPower Magazine. Gives run down of each motors specs. Also said the light duty diesel for GM, Dodge, and Ford would only be available in quad cab fully loaded trucks. All 3 are supposed to be available in the 2010 model year.

If so they should not be surprised when gassers keep the sunshine off the dealer parking lot as the older diesels keep driving by.
Unfortunately, that is the only way auto companies learn any thing, by loosing their butts.

My read is that there won't be ANY light duty diesels offered in ANY trim level before the 2010 model year, and then ONLY in the top-of-the-line highest-profit-margin trucks.

Oh, you wanted the diesel in a Ford Ranger size truck, or an F150 with standard cab and a short bed? Uhm, sorry... we can't make the diesel fit that (and still get our $30,000 profit margin PER TRUCK out of it)

Yea, they haven't learned anything. Still not building what people want to buy, only what they tell us to buy.

ya, I don't get it. the dodge 1/2 ton crew with cloth stickers for over $40,000. I can only imagine what they will charge for a fully loaded crew cab diesel 1/2 ton. Might as well buy a 3/4 ton.

The motor is in the assembly plant might as well put it in or make it an option in all 1/2 ton's.

....and how the big bosses demonstrated their abilities to Congress, we all know where their heads are, between their HIPS :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Our CRDs can be rebuilt until the block wears out where the wet sleeves slide in. Since there are off road and OTR diesels that have been rebuilt many times and go at least 1/2 million miles, all we will need to do is pretend we own a boat and buy the parts. By then even the youngest members will be old farts :!:

So it they don't want to sell what we want, let them make violent love to them selves :!: :!:

As far as I know, the only 2010 half ton truck that'll make it to production will be the Dodge+Cummins 5.0L. The Ford has been mothballed for a time and the GM as well.

I've seen mules thus far in all configurations so I'm not sure of the rumors of only being available in premium trims.

MrMopar64: Did the big shots see the green and go for it, or did Cummins have them by the neck with a signed contract?

Ether way, we have a partial victory of logic.

Am I the only one that sees "big three-and-a-half ton diesel" every time I see this thread title? :)

Chris: A coma would have added to the clarity. If we had News Casters who used proper North American English, and if all, not just some teachers would teach English for use as a communication tool instead of their political agendas, and politicians who did not tax us to the point we don't get enough sleep. Errors like forgetting the comma between the 3 and the 1/2 would be very very rare.
Overall, I would rate the quality of this thread above that of CNN, MSNBC, CBS, USA Today, CBC, and most other lousy news services and rags called News Papers.

Yup, I see it two.

But then again, I saw some pretty twisted things in ink blotches.

Did you get the one that looked like a donkey having sex with a cactus? Did you also wish they had more like that one?

Yeah, that's it, but my mother was there. (it is a scary thought that I carry sharp things around sick people in the ER, isn't it.)

Boy...You guys are kind of hard on the rotten b**tards (The Big 3)....
It only took about 12yrs for them to CONSIDER maybe expanding the diesel fleet.
Isn't it far better to get screwed by a US company than some foreign entity......

Cosmo... "The Princess" is a Nurse Practitioner that carries sharp stuff in the ER frequently.
