Been looking at lift options since deciding not to get a Daystar lift. I thought I was sold on the OME springs, but looked into the Rusty's lift and see how that would also be a great deal. But, their site doesn't give any info about whether it's an appropriate lift for the CRD.

Nope... springs are too soft. Won't work. Either OME or Daystar for the CRD's.

What about Rusty's BB lift for the KJ then? Would that work???

Don't go there either. It's an OTT lift and the rear shocks don't fit.

If you want a more budget lift, Incommando has a Rockfather CRD lift for sale.

That comes with the OME 790 springs you need. Send him a PM.

(it's a coil lift up front / puck lift in the rear, you can always upgrade later)

If you do want to go OTT then I'd suggest the Terraflex kit, at least that one comes with extended bumpstops so you don't kill you front shocks.

Here you can find Incommando:

So, besides the OME........what are my options really? And please don't say, "oh, save your money and do it right". I allready know that, I'm just wanting to look at all BB options before I spend my money on anything. I do know that the "CRD" specific Daystar is a big no-no, but I read while searching here, that the standard 2.5" they make is ok for us and lots of CRD rigs are running them, I just need2 be extra careful with the instal as not to tear the axle CV boots.

OME is the best for your application and there really isn’t anything in the ballpark that will be comparable.

Yeh, like I said, I know that! But we're talking about $700-$800 difference in cost, may not be much to some, but it's a pretty huge chunk of change to spend and justify with the one who really controls the money. I was looking at just the springs, but everyone says they dont work well at all with the stock struts. I allready have longer rear shocks ready to bolt up.

What I would really like is only about a 1-1.5" lift, but nobody offers one. So I'm stuck with what's available.

Hey, if you can afford a XJ trail rig and a high horsepower Dodge Cummins, then you can afford an OME lift for your KJ CRD. But seriously, save up for the OME!

Yeh, those were both built..................uhhhhmmmm........................before, you know..............marriage. LOL!!! And the XJ was just sold, cause it got to be too expensive to maintain. Had to dial back a bit, and some of those funds are going towards this. But the wife is scared of the economy, and really wants to save what we made on the sale.

I had Daystar for about 30k miles and other than the starting to sag a bit it was okay
(and I blame that on stock bumpstops - I should have gotten extended ones)

but Rusty's has the 'budget' On The Top spacer - which has killed front struts in as little as 1 weekend
and the full spring kit - which has 300 lb/in springs - and CRD's stock are 410lb/in
so they won't give a full lift or last very long.

(OME 790's are 500 lb/in but ride great)

So budget - go with Daystar
a little more money - OME

What Daystar kit are you referring to? The full 2.5" kit or the diesel specific one? I also read here, that with the 2.5" kit the CRD will sit low in the rear. I know you could add stock isolators to level out, but I'm wondering exactly what on the front makes it sit so high with that kit. Let me add, I do plan to use this for some mild to moderate offraoding also.

Ok, here's what I came up with for 1-1.5" of lift and still leave a slight rake in the front, let me know if this would work and exactly how much lift I would get:

Front clevis lift with Rusty's 1/2" strut plate w/rear 2" Daystar spacers.

I am running the Daystar 2.5" lift and have had my CRD in many off road situations. I love to hunt, fish, hike & camp. It has worked great. I wouldn't run the Baha with it, but it's a great stepping stone until you can scrounge the $$$ for the OME and it allows two size larger tires without any issues!

I had the 2.5" and it was a pain to install - I ended up dropping the lower A arm to get it together.
and it would be easy to tear a CV boot - which is why it's not recommended.

The OME was much easier (it's shorter because if the top plate)

From http://www.boulderbars.com . The total cost is $805.00 so I don't see a $700-$800 difference. I have this one and it is great!

~1.5" to ~2" OME CRD SPRING LIFT: $804.08
This kit is un-assembled & includes:

OME NS131 struts: $151.55 each
OME948 H/D Rear Springs: $151.55 pr
OME790 H/D CRD-Rated FRONT springs: $154.45 pr
OME132L Long Travel Shocks: $84.99 each
Rear Extended Bump Stops: $25 pr

For the above lift, you would reuse your stock top plates, isolators and hardware.

This kit comes un-assembled.

Or....just switch out your stock springs to OME790 in the front and OME948 in the rear.

ALL SHOCKS, SPRINGS, STRUTS AND BUMP STOPS CAN BE PURCHASED INDIVIDUALLY.

Dang, that is a little cheaper for the Rancho stuff, but still $650 more than a Daystar. I guess I was talking about the full OME setup everyone suggests.

I really like the way yours looks! Did you have the problem of the rear sitting lower than the front when finished? If so, what did you do to get the stock looking rake again?

Is there any point in just buying the front springs for a better ride?

No the rear is fine because when I installed the rear Daystar spacers, I left the factory rubber isolator in place and did not remove it as the instructions said to. Not my trick, one I picked up here.
As for the problem putting it together, I covered the CV's with a couple shop rags and duct tape until I was done. I also used a floor jack to raise the lower arm up enough to be able to get the lower bolt in place.
I have a very nice set of instructions I will send to anyone that wants them. All the info came from other member here, I just put it all together :D

I've had the Rusty's 2.5" lift on my CRD for the past 40,000 miles. Zero problems.. The ride is on the soft side. I would have liked it to be a tad bit firmer but it's not a big deal for me. The only time I notice this is if I am on my local tollway doing 70 MPH and hit one of their big dips. Now, I do have major complaints with Rusty's customer service. They are nice folks but they don't know how to run a business. It took me 6 months to get a return label for a skid plate that didn't fit. They always lost my info as well.
