| Post subject: | Codes P0700 and P2706, and the engine suddenly stall....... |
Hi again, my happiness with my CRD last just 2 weeks, tonight after a good day of work were the CRD works all fine, I tried ti use it in the night and when I put in Drive, and the transmission engaged, it Kills the engine....??????, after 2 more tries it works but in 2nd gear (*computer override??), and it didn't put the OD at high speeds. Then I tried again with the trick of turn off the engine and turn ON again, and again when I put it in Drive, kills the engine. I use a scan master, and the codes that reflects are P 0700 (Transmission Control System) and P 2706 (Shift Solenoid "F"). Anyone with these problems before???, as I said, all day it works great, suddenly in the night appear all this problem, I don't think is a converter problem. Any help would be very appreciated. Luis. |

Well - outside of the TC - I don't remember anyone posting problems with the tranny and I don't see anything with those error codes over in the Gasser section Yellocoyote - had a problem with the valvebody (the 45RFE on the 02 and 545RFE are the same except for the programing) http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=37005&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=tranny+shifting&start=0 and AdamisAdam had errors on his - only to find out the fluid was low http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=37227&highlight=tranny+shifting so Check the fluid level. I don't know how to check a valvebody - I'm guessing you'd have to pull the tranny pan and inspect it. |

Luis; I seem to remember that you posted something about having the transmission wiring harness damaged a while back. What was the damage? |

P0700 simply means that there is a fault in the transmission. P2706 is a solenoid circuit error, likely wiring, possibly fluid level. If you want the pages from the service manual (but the testing requires special electrical tools - more than just a 12V multimeter) PM me. |

Hi Danoid, Please send me the diagram, today I check all the wires connections, all looks fine, I use penetrating oil in case to be sure, the problem persist, about the low level of fluid, tomorrow in the morning I'm going to verify, but no leaks at anytime is detected, I guess this isn't the problem. On monday I'm planning to work with the diagram and the transmission. I'll let you know Regards Luis. |

It does sound like a TC locking up just like we heard about before F37 and TC/pump replacement. |

Two weeks have passed testing the electrical system of my CRD, we check the TCM in other Jeep and it works perfect, my mechanics told me that also he check the continuity of the cables from the TCM to the transm, all fine. Then I bought the shift solenoid part ( part number 52119 435AA) by $400!!! and installed it and it didn't resolve the problem. After 2 long weeks, I take the Jeep to my home with the TCM in shutdown mode, (just work in 2nd and 3rd gear) trying to figure out what's the problem. I use a personal scanner again clearing old codes and looking for new ones, and that was the response of the scanner. P0700 (as always), P0871 (Fluid Pressure Sensor Swith "C"), P0731 (Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio), P0876 (Fluid Pressure Sensor Switch "D") and the constant P2706 (Shift Solenoid). I noted also that sometimes at the 6 seconds the engine stalls, looks like the converter lock, also when I start the engine and quickly put in "Drive". The other time just run in 2nd and 3rd. I'm planning to visit a Transmission specialist very soon, maybe after I personally check for the continuity of the cables. I'still thinking is a electrical problem (not a mechanical one). Any help or input would be great appreciate. Luisboost from PR. |

This is something to be consern. Have your look at your turbo vaccum hose etc. if the turbo do not get the vaccum the tranny will not shift at all, it goes 1,2,3 and that is all. just thing about it. good luck...... |

The transmission shifts just fine with the turbo vacuum line disabled. It will shift all the way through 5th, it just takes a while to get there. I have unplugged the vacuum controller for better fuel economy in the past when driving on flat roads. It's usually not worth the power loss though. |

The engine is running great, not problem at all with it. Just the transmission, Luis. |
