Saw that today on the 95 corridor in Georgia... RUG 2.09 or higher, usually 2.19... Diesel 2.05 to 2.09! It's ABOUT FRIGGING TIME, now all I need is my CRD back, instead of this 10mpg Grand Cherokee beast. I know it has 211k miles on it, but there has to be SOMETHING wrong for it to be getting such horrid mileage. |

I might agree with you, but it's a 97 with the V8. Local Jeep tech (all he ever touches, and it's his own business) says (and I seem to remember) that this design should be getting up to 19 hwy, and like 14 city. Last tank was almost entirely city, and for 20 gallons I got 210 miles. Ugh. Granted, a small portion of that was towing a 2500 lb generator, but still. 45 miles of towing wouldn't ruin the MPG that badly. I've now pulled the cat from it, and I just put the oxygen sensor back onto the wire, but ziptied to the transmission skid. It has it's own heater (which probably died eons ago) so this is just to turn off the idiot light, and maybe that is part of why it drank so much gas. Honestly, if I ever get my CRD back together, I am getting the damaged engine back anyway... If the damage isn't too bad, I may just rebuild that CRD motor myself and pick up a 545 to shove behind it. I've got the computers... So this could be a re-power for this GC. Its not like the GC's motor is gonna last forever anyway, and the truck is paid off. Hmm. At least that way, I could keep the 4wd of the GC. Now... Would I also need to find a Skreem module, or can the engine start without it on the computer? |

It's running in closed loop cold start mode, because the computer can't tell how lean it's running without the O2 sensor. |

It's running in closed loop cold start mode, because the computer can't tell how lean it's running without the O2 sensor. Possibly, this is the second or rear O2 sensor though... My research says that this one is for telling the computer how efficiently the converter is working, that the front sensor tells the ECU that the engine is running lean etc. So I don't think it would have had as much to do with the economy... But I'm also not sure that the engine has 2 sensors. Either way, after 212k miles, I'm sure they are killed anyway. I'm thinking about finding and changing the first one if it exists. |

Average about 11 - 12 UGGG! |
