Hello all. As soon as I get my CRD home I'm going to have a custom 3" exhaust sans muffler. Is anyone else running a big exhaust with or without muffler? If so what do you think of the results? Thanks. |

no need for anything past 2.5. The magnaflow system is nice and will get rid of the bottleneck. or... gut the cat and remove the muffler. in any case gut the cat. some have had a custom 3 inch installed but performance gains are marginal. Before heavy modding your jeep get a suncoast / new pump / transgo shift kit. do NOT get the new bands they will try to sell you. Custom exhuast is expensive. |

The truck I'm buying already has a Suncoast, shift kit, Inmotion!!! How do you (I) gut the cat? What are the bands you're talking about? Thanks. |

Thanks AT. That 3" system is sweet! I don't know whether Marauderer is still around but I sent him a PM about where he got that exhaust done. Maybe ill have to go to Georgia before heading back to Seattle after pickng up my CRD in Nashville. |

I’m running a gutted cat and a 70 series 2 ½ Flowmaster. I like the Flowmaster as there is nothing to blow out over time. We use them on our turbo off road cars as well with no problems. The exhaust noise is very quiet, pretty much the same as the stock setup. |

| Post subject: | 3" exhaust no muffler.... 3" magnaflow diesel CAT |
I had my exhaust custom made by a local shop. Initially, I had the CAT gutted with 3" SS pipe to the back (no muffler). It was darn loud! The engine seemed to spool quicker with much less engine braking (OD off) on deceleration. When my Magnaflow 3" SS High Flow Diesel CAT arrived I had it installed by the same shop who had done the original work... Originally, I had planned to use no larger than 2.5" SS pipe, but was forced to use 3" b/c 2.5" high flow diesel CATs seem to be rare. Or out of stock!!! What is the difference between a high flow diesel CAT and a standard (RUG) high flow CAT... IDK? Anyway, the addition of the high flow CAT seems to have made the throttle response crisper, and a bit more quiet for certain (still no muffler remember). I am happy with the results. FYI, my CRD has a Provent draning to a SEALED catch tank, InMotion stage 2 tune, SEGR mod, CAT 2 micron fuel filter, True Flow foam air filter, SAMCO silicon boost hoses with T-bolt clamps, and a Facet 40109 lift pump. Cheers, Erik |

Unfortunately for me, out of stock when I tried over a year or so ago.... Next search is for a high flow DPF.... Once the aftermarket starts producing them more readily. : ( Cheers, Erik |

Ive heard that here in Warshington you (shop) can't touch the CAT until the vehicle has a certain level of miles on her. Anybody know that mileage mark? |

I don't know the answer to that but the shop here if FL made me sign the ticket saying it was for racing only. |

its not just washington. its everywhere. i think under 80k? not sure... unless its damaged. So take a whack at it and get it "repaired". DO NOT try to sell it as a used cat. You can get fined. You can however sell it as scrap metal |
