Post subject:  Diesel wrench in GA

My brother lives out in near Villa Rica, GA (west of Hotlanta). He has an 05 CRD and might need some help working on it. A Stealership in NC stripped out his drain plug and refused to fix it (long story). I'm trying to find someone to help him drill/tap and Fumoto it. Anything would be helpful, either help with driveway work, or info on a reputable mechanic near him.

I'd also like to see what the opportunities he has in GA for performing the diesel mods (EHM, ORM, etc., etc.) while making sure he will pass any GA State regs. Any info/help would be greatly appreciated!

Post subject:  Another stripped oil pan plug in GA

I live outside of Augusta GA and I am also the victim of a stripped oil pan plug from one Jiffy Lube visit, so right now my Jeep is sitting in the driveway waiting on me to fix it...
I read in some other threads that the Fumoto guys ( Lubrication Specialist)recommend retapping the hole with a 18X1.5 tap and installing a Fumoto F104 valve. I plan to do this myself probably this weekend.
I cannot recommend a shop to perform the work for your brother, but I will let you know how my repair goes.

Jiffy Lube stripped my plug and the manager apologized and told me to take it to the dealer and have them call him with cost of repairs.

I hope you got that in writing. Sad, but in this economy, you can't trust anybody.

If you are wanting to tweak out any diesel, including the CRD, you might want to consider a shop that only does diesels and high performance ones at that.

Check out these guys and see what they can do for you....

There is one of their shops in Forest Park, GA that might be able to help you out. At least you might get them interested to take a look at the diesel in the Liberty and give you some guidance.

Post subject:  Diesel dealers in GA

Cowpie,
Thanks for the link to local diesel shops. One of the shops on this list in Augusta is Testmasters and they are located 2 miles from where I work. I stopped by to get acquainted the first week I bought my 06 CRD. They specialize in Bosch fuel pumps and installing performance chips in any diesel, but I got the impression that they do not technically "work" on diesels. I plan to revisit them sometime in the future to see what other services they could provide. Including myself, there are 4 CRD Liberty owners in the Augusta area that could use a little help every now and then...

Let me know how that goes and, if possible, take as many picts as possible. Those are the same numbers I had for the job.

I might just end up having my bro bring his CRD up for a beach visit and we'll do it in my driveway.

It happened back in 2007 and despite the guy being from the east coast, he was above board. :)

Hey now, us East Coasters CAN be trustworthy... Its just the mobsters that give us a bad rep.

I'm glad he was a stand-up guy. Where my CRD is right now is an honest mechanic, something which is rare indeed. I stopped by there today and learned some interesting things about VM's design. Things which don't make me happy about the longevity of this engine.
