As the topic asks, does the v6 airbox mod flow more or less or the same, amount of air as the stock intake?

I for the life of me, cant keep my air filters clean, and they are expensive to swap out (napa gold) if it's not full of dead bugs it's coated in mud. So I ordered the parts for the v6 mod (moparpartsamerica for 30 dollars shipped) In the hopes that my filters will last longer.

But will i see reduced performance?

I see the gasser folks adding customized intakes that resemble the way ours work (except for the gravity trap that we lack)

I can't imagine it would flow any different. Same intake hose to the turbo and the same air filter element. But it will continue to flow when it's raining.

I put my V6 Airbox in Saturday, and haven't noticed a difference so far. My mileage is unchanged, so it's still getting the same amount of air I presume.

Where did you get the kit for $30? I ordered PKKJAIR from Mopar Super Center and it was $120+, but it came with a new air filter too. It had the bottom and top of the airbox (you don't need the new top, but it is a package deal), the 90 degree bend snorkel, and air deflector.

I got mine from a fellow LOST member. Good deal too. It's simply a more intelligent design!

As far as flow, it may flow a little less, Im not sure. Ive been wondering whether to take off the air deflector that sits in front of the snorkle.......

The longer V6 duct would probably result in some reduction in airflow compared to the original if involved in FWOT drag-racing (and who isn't?), but the dual 90* angles prior to the airbox inlet will provide some centrifugal filtration to any water droplets that get past the rain-dam, so it's a trade-off: reduction in airflow offset by reduction in water-flow...................

While the V-6 airbox may slightly restrict air flow, it's nothing compared to the restriction caused by a filter coated with mud, dust or bugs. By all accounts, the original airbox is a terrible design, and under severe rain conditions, it can become water logged to the point where it doesn't work. I've had the V-6 airbox on for 3 years, and it has doubled (at a minimum) filter life.

During our winters in Canada the original CRD box would fill with snow and make a helluva mess. no more problems with gasser box in place.

This is pretty funny because there is a wrecked 03 here in san diego that i found and they wanted 75 for the complete assembly, including resonator, and i was like, ptpt i can get a new one for under 100. They did not want to deal and the guy was kinda an booty, so yeah. Also they did not want to break it up. I would like the ac controls but i understand they are crapper than the stock 05-06's and like i said they want top dollar for the stuff.

If i had found this thing last year it would have been excellent, I could have used a drive shaft and rear pinion flange. I looked everywhere in all the junk yards bordering Mexico and not one liberty :P. Ah well.

Has anyone tried to figure out how to use the original V6 airbox box top (instead of keeping the CRD box top)? There is a 3.5" outlet on the V6 box vs. the CRD's 3" outlet. Don't know how much the .5" of extra girth would improve airflow, but thought it might be worth asking.
