| Post subject: | CRD Warranty period |
Now that Chrysler has found its way out of Bankruptcy, together with the government's pledge to back the warranties of GM and Chrysler, perhaps our remaining warranties have value. So, what is the warranty on my 05 diesel engine? Why do I ask? When I bought my new 05 CRD I was told that the diesel engine carried a 100,000 mile warranty. When I look at my warranty documentation there appears to be a contradiction, however. In the warranty booklet that came with the vehicle, it clearly says that after the 3 yr/36000 general warranty, there is a powertrain warranty extending to 7 yr/70000 miles. Looking on page 3 of the 24-hour towing assistance information guide that came with the vehicle it states: "If you are the first purchaser for the use of the vehicle (excluding SRT models and Special Use vehicles), your 24-hour towing assistance continues for the remainder of the 7-year/70,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. First purchasers for use of the vehicle with a Diesel Engine also receive a 7-year/100,000 mile Limited Diesel Engine Warranty and 24-Hour Towing Assistance will be provided for warrantable defects covered under this Limtited Diesel Engine Warranty. So clearly I have a 100,000 mile warranty on the diesel engine, but presumably doesn't extend beyond 70,000 miles on other powertrain components. Right? |

This was debated back and forth, some people got the 100,000 mile warranty card, others did not. I am not sure if that card is worth the paper it is printed on. |

Precisely. Just remember that I have a printed paper saying I have an active 7/70 with time and miles remaining... And we all know how much that is worth, when Mopar won't even examine it. We get what the master chooses to give us. |

I appreciate that collecting on a warranty claim is subject to doubt, the question is: if I made a warranty claim on the engine as the original owner do I clearly I have a warranty to 7 years/100000 miles? |
