So almost to 71k on the CRD now, and the transmission is acting a little funkyer all the time. Sometimes after you first start it and put it into reverse it will take 6-7 secs to engage. Other times a shift will just feel "weird". Not having had any issues in the past I always kinda just glossed over other peoples problems, though most of those I seem to remember being "shudder" related. I have never gotten any shudder out of it so I feel like the problem is not TC related. 71k on a 2005 without the F37, very minor towing use. Thoughts? I think a fluid and filter change is the first thing in order, however if that doesn't improve anything I am not sure what else to try except for a pump replacement. |

well my trans is being rebuilt at 56K.... i think a solenoid has been slightly stuck open and let 4th and 5th gear be slightly engaged all the time... depending on what is in your pan you should be able to tell... and you might just have plugged filters... so open her up and take a look... don't go with aftermarket filters... i don't think they have the anti drainback valves that mopar has |

I have about 40k on the clock, did a full drain/filter at 30k. I've been getting more and more slippage after multi-hour sitting. It used to happen only when parked on a slope, but is happening all the time and more quickly as of late. Sam, what other conditions seem to be common to your symptoms? Dan |

Sounds like a plan. Do the simple things first - change the filters and fluid, have a look-see inside the pan, proper fluid levels - if that doesn't do it, then it's time to consider more involved (and costly) possibilities. And make bloody sure you use ATF +4 fluid. |

Hard to beat your idea about starting with the fluid & filter, and you may learn something from looking at the bottom of the pan. Doesn't sound like a TC. You are one of the guys I look at for answers so there isn't much I can do if you have a question. I do keep a look out at trans issues as I want to avoid them. 06 w/F37, 56K mi and occasionally tow 3,500 lb travel trailer. Hope my CRD lasts forever. |

I'd also say start with the fluid and filters. Today I had to come to a panic stop from 40 and then drove off momentarily. Those first three shifts were stuttery and jerky, something I've never noticed before. Near as I can guess the trans pump inhaled some air while all the fluid was sloshed to the front of the pan, and it needed a couple shifts to purge the valve body. All subsequent shifts were fine all day. |
