Post subject:  EGR valve = Blow off valve???

Reading about the "Green" ECU tune and the EGR delete function got me
thinkin.
It was mentioned that the EGR should not be blocked off because it allows
some high pressure intake air to bleed off when letting off the throttle.
Isn't this what a blow-off valve does?
At what PSI does the EGR "blow-off" excess air?
Why does a diesel, with no throttle plate, and a variable geometry turbo
need this function? Isn't the turbo supposed to do this? (i.e. because the
turbo has no waste gate)

So if I really wanted to completely block off or remove the EGR, should I
install some sort of relief valve? (i.e. blow-off valve)

What do you guys think?

Intelligent blow-off valve (world's first!), and no..................

I'm thinking the surges in a throttle-less diesel are far less abrupt than a gasser, and this is a non-issue.

same here... and the only time i have heard the turbo go into over speed is when i was power breaking then abruptly let off the fuel.. a guy standing at the side of my truck didn't believe it was a turbo diesel so i showed him....

Nice! I tried that with my VW, stupid computer shuts off the fuel and won't let the turbo spool.
