Who has done the replacement them selves? Is it a straight forward job, any hints or things to worry about when replacing the TC? I have a hoist to work on, and I have tools, does replacement require any special tools? The Suncoast TC is $695 and a normal replacement can be had for around $200, is the Suncoast worth it????? Thanks! |

straight forward... if you know your way around you can get it out in under 3 hours... replacement of the TC takes about 5 mins... back in the vehicle in probably about 4-5 hours.... there are little things that always hold you up on an install... prefill the TC with about 2 qts of atf+4 |

If you have to replace it now - go with the Suncoast - however if your TC isn't dead - you might want to wait and see if the Green Diesel guys can get the European performance TC - it sounds promising - also I think gmctd and one of the Oz folks are looking at Hemi TC's - so you might have some more options soon - but right now Suncoast is it. (I would not put another stock converter in - it's okay if Jeep does it for free - but don't pay money for it) |

Thanks for the info inferno, I'm sure I could Handel it seeing as the hard part is just dropping the trans. Any thing I should watch for? I want to keep it I do like the thing but I have more problems out of it then all of my past vehicles put together! I heard that Suncoast is the best but I hope I never have a tc issue again for $650. Thanks for the help man. |

Thanks for the help man. the trans filler tube is a PITa some times... the top two bolts are kinda rough to get at... ya need about 2 feet of extentions i think... i broke one 8mm socket getting the front drive shaft out... the trans cooler lines are quick disconnect (i didn't find that out till i put it IN for the third time... a little round ring snaps away from the trans and then a small "C" clip comes off (don't let it go flying to who knows where)... becarefull with the BIG connector on the drivers side... i broke one side of it... it comes off similar to the ECU connectors... a handle comes off the top and pushes it upwards just do it slowly.. i think that is about all... mostly 15 and 16 mm sockets and a 10mm for the 3 starter bolts and the filler tube |

In about 3-4 weeks I should be getting the Hemi 5.7 TC installed. Just putting some pennies together for the mechanic. New TC here and ready to go. |
