Well, I went and did it. After reading all the posts here about the diesel, decided it would be nice to own one. Made a stupidly low offer on a 2006 Liberty CRD and they took it. $21,750, sticker was $27.5K. The dealer had several on the lot so these aren't moving like they were a few months ago. I would like to report that all is great but I already got my first CEL. P0504 brake light switch. Brake lights were working, so I cleared the code, so far it has stayed away. Not a good sign as there are only 55 miles on the clock. I'm not scared though, it's a simple fix and others have had this problem. Time to put the diesel Suburban up for sale. |

There is a TSB out that specifically mentions this code.. its reportedly an erroneous code. ECM flash is available to fix it. It covers 05 and some 06 models. It's TSB 18-038-05 - available here: http://www.alldata.com/tsb/Chrysler/113 ... 5/381.html |

Thanks for the tip. I'll call the dealer and see what they say. It was built last month, surprised it doesn't have the update. Do these come from the factory with B5 in the tank? It ran smooth as silk when I test drove it. After putting regular fuel it it rattles like a normal diesel. I sure wish Bio was available locally. The one place that had it disappeared a few months ago. |

Welcome to the club, that's a darn good deal it sounds like. We've had our CRD for 3 weeks and put 2400 miles on'er already! |

I got the same CEL on my CRD for the brake light switch issue, AFTER I had the latest computer flash done on it. So I don't think it's an erroneous error....could be, but I dunno. congrats on the diesel! |

congrats on the diesel! So what did they find when you had it fixed? Is the CEL still there? |

Ranger 1, I just went to Tire track an could not find the Michelin 235X70X16 XCT's that you have on you sig block. Are those that new or that old not to be on Tire Rack website? |

Put in a 2002 Jeep Liberty 4x4 and select Michelin. I just went there and found them, listed as Cross Terrains, 235x70xSR16. I bought them back in February 05, knowing that my 05 CRD had Goodyears. I already had them on my 02 Limited Liberty so I knew they fit perfectly. They were on sale then too, for considerably less than they are now. I picked blackwalls this time as the whitewalls eventually yellow with age. I've had them on my 02 Liberty for 3 years now... They are far less noisy than the Goodyear ST's. Handle better too. I found them on TireRack just now by using an 02 liberty and Michelin as search criteria. I had the dealer put them on as I have the TPMS with the wireless sensors on each wheel. They also adjusted the ECM with their scantool for the new tire size. PS: another option is that Costco has a sale early in January-February where they take $60.00 off a set of 4. I bought my first set there for about the same as TireRack, but installed and balanced, with a rotation and tire hazzard warranty. |

No, dealer replaced my brake light switch with a brand new switch, and I haven't had any CELs since. |

The CEL has not returned since I erased the code with my pocket scanner. While starting it yesterday, I noticed that I tend to very lightly touch the brake pedal when cranking. I wonder if I tricked the system. The code is for "Brake switch A brake switch B correlation" The TSB says this is a nuisance code. Nuisance my fanny. It disables the cruise control and sets a U0121 code which is "Lost Communication With Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module" I guess that means no ABS while the code is set. I just got back from a 200 mile trip. Very surprised at how comfortable the seats are. It cruises nicely and tracks down the road well. My old full size Blazer likes to wander all over the road. Didn't expect this from a short wheel base truck. |

Yup that is what happened to me. On a long trip my ABS light flashed on suddenly and my cruise control quit working. CEL came on and dealer said it was the brake switch. Another dealer had told me the same thing several months ago but cleared the code and ignored it. This dealer replaced the switch and it's been OK since. But yeah, it's annoying. Upon visual inspection, that brake light switch is the cheapest looking and feeling plastic piece of junk I've ever seen. Seems dangerous to me to rely on that switch and the way it operates to signal other drivers you are stopping. sheesh.. |
