Sorry if this has been covered, but does anyone know the biggest oil filter you can run on the 2.8? I was hoping to just add a full 7 qts during my oil change. If you have a part number that would be great. |

I use the Mobil 1 M1 301 that will get you near the 7 qt capacity. It is quite a bit larger than the stock oil filter. |

NAPA (Wix) PN: 1515. It fits most Ford V8 applications. Fits perfectly on CRD's. 1 Quart size. |

Over in the FJ Cruiser world, some of the folks had trouble with their oil pressure being too low to open the ADB valve. I would assume that our CRDs have signifficantly higher oil pressure than a FJ. Any input on this? I looked at a Mobil 1 M1 301 today at O'rriles auto. Man that is one big honking manly filter. |

The M1-301 has the same specs as the recommended filter for the CRD. I have used them since mile 0 with no issues. http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/index.asp |

I may throw one on with the next oil change. |

Any of these larger filters fit with the stock skid plate? |

Yes, Both the M1-301 and the larger Amsoil EAO-26, which is 1 inch longer than the M1-301 fits with the stock skid plate. The EAO-26 is as large as it will fit though. 7 quarts on that one is 3 mm below the MAX mark on the dipstick. |

That is a very comprehensive link. Thanks. I guess I'm going to try the M1 301 on my next oil change since it's the only one which is readily avaiaible around here, but 16 bucks...ouch. |

After reading through the above mentioned link : http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfil ... nions.html It looks like I'll be making a switch. I wanted something bigger and seeing that the M1-301 is the same as the readily available PH8A I would have considered that in the TG8A but again, not to thrilled with the results of the tests. I cannot find any of the M1-301 filters around my area so I might be trying some wix from napa. Just didn't want to pay more then $5 for an oil filter every 6,000 miles, but the results page has me convinced. |

Not sure where you live, I live in a cold climate and in the winter on cold starts the oil pressure will spike. Fram products are notorious for rupturing. I can not get M1-301 in Canada but pick them up at Wall Mart in Minot North Dakota for 5.99 US on my travels. cheap peace of mind when its -40C. Just my 2 cents! |

Anybody tried amsol EaO15 which is what comes up when you try an equivalent to wix 51515. If you try M1301, you get the same filter. |
