EDIT: We have 7/70 and 7/100 premium Chrysler ESP and were charged $107 for this TSB at just under 60K. Is this standard practice after the 3/36 expires? Towed horse trailer at about 3100 lbs, 87 deg ambient, 60% humidity, just in "Drive", foot to the floor (no "OD off". etc.). Connected VAGCOM in generic OBD II mode to monitor ECU data. 2 Ticks to left of center: 71C (159.8F) 1 Tick to left 76C (168.8F) Center 100C (212F) 3/4 109C (228.2) Highest I could get it with AC on full going flat out up a series of long hills was 111C (231.8F) (slightly to right of 3/4 mark). Highest speed was 75MPH. HT is very tall so it appears to be aero drag limited to that on the flat. Could have gone faster downhill, but didn't. The AC never cut out. There may have been a little defueling when it got to 111C (fits with GDE indication that defueling starts at 225F), because it dropped down to 60MPH near the top of a very steep and long hill. There was so much combined noise that I could not be sure if the new fan clutch was fully engaged, but the temps climbed so slowly compared to before and stabilized so well that I have a hard time imagining that it was not engaged. These numbers are very close higher in the range to what GDE posted for a post-reflash temp gauge, though they are off a bit more at lower temps where it would seem less critical. Unfortunately, I won't have the EGT thermocouple installed for a while so I don't have matching EGT numbers. However, I am much more comfortable now really using the Jeep for what we bought it for than before, when one short run up a hill with the trailer would instantly peg the gauge and then you had no idea where you stood. Thanks again to GDE for their contributions. DOC |

I was charged for the Temp measurement reflash - don't remember how much I think it was 1/2 hour of time, but they said it wasn't a recall - it was troubleshooting if you had a problem. |

I was reflashed for a few things that did not work right after buying the jeep. I happened to know they replaced some component of the instrment panel that cause nothing to work before I bought it. My 4x4 lights were not all working and the horn never honked along with the alarm light not comming on when you locked it. the dealer took it back a week after my complaint and fixed it all free. the invoice said 40 minutes labor at no cost to me other than the drive there and an hour wait. |
