Okay go ahead and crucify me then to those of you who have installed an inline aux pump, i'm fitting one this weekend and wanted to confirm the wiring. I need to locate the green and red wire from the harness, which is the thicker of the bunch, and spline as i don't have the pins etc. I need to solder and heatsink the live and then feed the wire through the existing grommet and anchor black to ground. Ouch.... |

I originally mounted one in the engine bay which if i recall you had done with your Facet. This one trashed when i jump started awhile ago and had a power surge. I connected her to the relay but i'm not sure if wiring it that way can do some damage or not. I want to mount the new pump on the chassis like most others have done. I would consider the engine bay option again however the instructions that came with the pump say that it's not designed to absorb the heat from an engine bay so i'm not sure if i should take another chance and just put it there again or mount it next to the fuel tank. When i fitted the first pump next to the fuel filter, it worked well as i say until i nuked it with the power surge. It would be quicker to do it this way but then is it advisable to just insert the live into the relay or is there another way of wiring it in the engine bay. |

Make sure the fuse and relay is still good, then follow these instruction to rewire under the seat and mount lift pump under the body. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=39362 |

Here is where I mounted the pump
Here is the wiring harness you need to get to under the left rear seat. Pull back the carpet, removing the seats helps. I grounded the pump to the body instead of using the ground in the harness. I skinned the insulation on the wire that supplyes power to the fuel pump and soldered the wire to the harness. Then I painted on liquid electrical tape and wrapped it with tape.

Thanks for the pics, if i mount the pump a bit further way from the tank and cut a pice of the metal fuel pipe and join both ends with fuel hose and hose clamps from the pump i assume it would be just as good? |

I personally don't like cutting the metal tubing when there's already so much flexible tubing inline, unless I'm using compression-type tubing fittings and more metal tubing, usually stainless steel - replacing those plastic flex-lines between the tank and fuel pump with clamped rubber hose eliminates the vacuum leaks caused by the plastic fittings |
