Is it possible to disconnect the cel by removing the instrument cluster and unplugging it.

I think this was discussed before but i can't remember what the outcome was. My cel stays on due to the p0610 which requires a reflash of the ECM and i don't quite have the time to get to the dealer at this stage.

It is possible, but not easy if you want it to work again.

Seems like a trip to the dealer would be quicker than pulling the dash apart and possibly breaking something.

If they ever check your CEL in your neck of the woods, they will want the light to come on when you turn on the key and shut off when the engine starts.

Creative wiring on the circuit board where you connect the light to another light that behaves the way you want would satisfy the idiot light requirements. Having repaired the very crude circuit boards used on automotive instrument clusters, this is not rocket science.

The problem here is visually it would fool an onlooker. Most if not all (anybody with half a clue) would hook up to the ALDL connector under the dash and scan all 5 computers in the CRD. Any and all faults would be reported, CEL light or not.

Unless you have an Emissions Inspection with a Trained and Certified Inspector, I doubt if any of the various Government Employees would even let on they had the expertise to plug in a scanner and look for faults. Police would notice a CEL and issue a warning or other citation requiring you to get it fixed.
I totally agree the SEGR you developed is the best solution, but macuss is in South Africa, he will need to check his local laws.

If you want to know where I stand on the use of the EGR and NOX here is a post: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=46189
