| Post subject: | SAMCO WARNING!!!!!! |
Just wanted everyone with Samco's to give them a once over.My Sam on the left was touching the airbox and the lower sensor attached to the airbox, and was wearing into the hose in both spots. If this would have gone unnoticed it would have gone all the way through sooner or later.Big Bucks!!!!!!!!!I put rubber insulating tape on my hose to protect it. Hope this helps. |

That was one of the spots we identified when we got the first set made up. The solution ended up being to cut the hose a little longer. This shouldn't be a problem with the production hoses. How far is the hose pushed onto the turbo outlet? If it is pushed too far it would have the same effect as being shorter and cause the touching issue you mentioned. On the preproduction set I ended up just wrapping tape around it so it wouldn't jab into anything. Simple solution seems to solve the problem. Though I would feel better if I could find some chinese finger puzzle wrap to put around the hoses. |

Someone a while back posted a link to Summit where they ordered some of the braid to cover theirs. Said they had to use soap to get it on, but they got it. I'll see if I can't find the thread. |

Found the link, danoid posted that he put this on his turbo-to-cooler hose in that long thread about the stainless steel turbo hoses that never came to fruition. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-6 ... toview=sku |

Thanks for the heads up. I just installed my Samco hoses, and sure enough, the hose was resting on the sensor. I have the "Chinese puzzle wrap" left over from my original hoses. Should I have slipped this over the new samco hoses? Also, would that puzzle wrap keep the hoses from swelling during acceleration...and does that even matter? (the swelling that is) |

(the swelling that is) the swelling doesn't matter, its inconsequential to the volumetric flow. for the braided stuff to be useful it really needs to be loose on the hose. I found the stock stuff to be much to small to even fit on the hose. |

I chose the stainless 'chinese finger tortue' wrap as armor over the stock wrap. Mine was rubbing on the air box and I figure there was plenty of plastic there to abrade away. It took a while and it wasn't cheap, but the hose looks pretty bulletproof now. |
