For your return line, how is it plumbed into the system? Obviously you don't want the SVO to contaminate the startup diesel, so short of having a 3 way valve that you can switch by hand when you see diesel come through via a sight glass I don't see how you can avoid some cross-contamination.

Does the return line simply connect into the incoming fuel system so that the return fuel is always plumbing to the incoming fuel?

return goes back to the svo tank. When you switch back to diesel a little will get into your fuel tank... but its not a big deal. Greasecar. com has a nice kit as well as electric valves. A manual valve would be a pain.

I think greasecars kit has a feature that will run the return to your veggie tank when running diesel for 20 or so sec minimizing the veggie going back to the tank.
On my 300sd i didn't really care... and was on a budget.

I had a single larger diameter hose with 4 hoses inside of it going back to the tank. 1 (veggie) going to the engine 1 (veggie) for return the the other two for antifreeze. That way on the way up to the engine (and back) everything stays nice and warm.

#2 clears the WVO or SWO back to the veggie tank, dependant on purge time varys the amount. My CRD is a standing 40 count (1MISSISSIPPI,2......).If interested check out my WVO CRD on YOUTUBE search WVO LIBERTY (sorry not to good at links)....If someone will show me how I will post up complete install disk (150+ pics) in tech............For the record this isn't my first train wreck,I have a V3 Vegistroke on my Excursion and my house runs WVO and BIOD thru a AGSolutions B-150 .......good luck H

Thats what I was expecting, right now the best solution I can think of is to either do it via a timer and a 3-way solenoid valve, or to set it up so that my switchover fuel just gets dumped to a 3rd tank.

To explain better what I am doing, I am working on a John Deere 4045H tier 2 engine running #2 and SVO(canola). I am doing emissions testing which costs $1600 a day, I cannot have any cross contamination in my fuels.

To complicate things this engine, unlike our CRD, returns about 80-85% of the fuel at idle, meaning there is a huge potential for cross contamination.

sorry I took so long responding, had to do research.OK the system you are looking for is similar(Very, very similar) to the Vegistrokes(v1,v2,v2) design as the powerstroke returns alot of fuel @ idle as well. There are check valves that keep WVO out of #2 tank, and a series of selinoids to run fuel delivery @ idle and regular operation.Ther are old plans for the first version FREE on the net its called a FN74 (WVO) kit.The newer ones are dwscribed and sold on DFA (dino Fuel Alternatives) web site as "VEGISTROKE" for fords and dodge. The ford utilizes the extra fuel port on the heads, where as the dodge kit would be along the lines of what you need to research.OWNER of DFA is Jason Crawford, and very easy to talk to over the phone....all info is on his website and let me know if you need any more info...................H

Frybrids' ford kit is a Vegistroke, they share technology,it is a good company but I had better luck dealing with DFA.If you wanting simplistic you could use three selonoids and two small tanks mounted above there main tanks respectively(this would be your "idle" tank)and would gravity feed as not to take heat from WVO/SVO tank.It would need a check valve on the SVO side as not to let svo end up in #2 tank................H

Here is a pretty good deal, although the grease car kit will need some tweaking. http://eauclaire.craigslist.org/pts/1417767784.html
