The turbo hose does the 4 inch split right at the throttle body.
Took wifes xj to walmart for roll of gorilla tape.
Go to advance & clear codes.
 Runs pretty good right at the moment

02/16/10 103545 miles replaced hose
worked way better than i expected!

I wonder how long the gorilla tape will last.
Good thing to put in the tool box for the time my hoses go, at least to get me home.
Samco Turbo Hose Kit hoses are pricey but their on sale. That or you can always go with the OEM ones.

I can't help but wonder what I will do when one of mine pops.

where can you get hoses other than Samco? I looked at moparpartsamerica.com I could not find the stock ones.

How much power is lost? I imagine the poor thing won't be able to get out of its way.

No "power" worth speaking of, CEL on and oil all over the engine. I have Samco hoses, work well, but I hear the "new" OEM units are more durable than old OEM. I hope that's the case.

Wow, almost 100k on a set. Mine went at 60k.

How timely for this post.

On my way to work this morning, I had to punch it to get into traffic. I had tons of power and speed. I didn't hear any noise; I don't have a CEL on at all. However, when I came to the next light to make a left, there was no power. The engine seems to accelerate real slow and there is no boost at all.

Does this sound like a hose? My turbo? Something else?

I parked it and tried to rev the engine to listen for noise, but I hear nothing. It sounds normal. I REALLY don't want to go to dealership down the road as I hate them.

I still have my OEM (original with 40k miles on them) hoses if you want to try them. As far as I know they don't leak.

If you don't hear a loud hiss, it's not likely a popped intercooler hose. You may have a plugged air filter -- I plugged one, and that was the exact symptom. No power, no CEL.

you should get the URBAN CAMO samco hoses ! they are worth 100 bucks more, but give you 80 ftlbs of torque !

$270 bucks for turbo hoses, brutal. I hope my OEM last quite a bit longer.

The real question is can you put up with having your Jeep sit in your driveway for a week while you get new ones ordered?

Hardly, I may have to order a set to have on hand.

is there a place to order a set of stock hoses other than the stealer?

Mopar parts america online can ship you the OEM hoses. The turbo side hose was upgraded to a better silicon that will not bleed oil. However, the intercooler outlet side that goes to engine intake has not changed and would still be prone to failure over time. This is the hose that seems to have the most failures based on customer issues.

yes i work at a dealer.I know you all hate us.... but techs aint making what the dealer charges
The hose will be here tomorow at slighly better than parts america price. No two week wait
but its running just fine with the gorilla tape repair.
i may just leave it on till check engine returns or noteable lack of power ,just to see how long it lasts.

do you samco users notice that much improvement over factory hoses?
i think the $200.00 diffference would be better spent on the new torque converter.

How much was the total for parts and shipping?

I don't always hate the dealer.... well not the guys that do the work...THE MAN thats sets the price for labor and sits at his desk while we fatten up his wallet yeah he is the one to hate. I actualy had a good experance the one time I had to go back to the dealer I bought my jeep from to get some features programed back in to the computer that were not working. I was in and out fast and they were very pleasant. I will probaly not go back to them unless I realy need them, that dealer is over 30 miles away.
I have been to the parts department at my local dealer. The parts guy seems ok and for the little things I have got the price was not way out there.

back on topic... So what you are saying is OEM hoses are less than $100 a set. Now that is not so bad. I would not spend $200 more unless the Samco ones are garrinteed to last so long that I could put them in my will.

Saw this hose repair tape on a SAMCO dealer's web site: http://www.rescuetape.com/

BTW, I once bought a similar product on EBAY which must have had an expired shelf life. It didn't perform well.
Learned the same lesson with some EBAY urethane adhesive: ask for the expiration date.
