We recently had the clutches replaced in the rear factory Trac-Lok LSD under warranty (62K). Dealer reportedly replaced the fluid and added the suggested two bottles of friction additive. Now, on tight turns on our hard packed gravel/dirt drivway, the outside rear wheel moderately tears up the surface, suggesting that the outside wheel is dragging a bit. It does not seem severe enough, on pavement, to make the tires chirp or for it to buck.

The Jeep never did this from 20K when we acquired it to just prior to this replacement, but I have no way of knowing whether this was normal. I am told that adding another bottle of modifier would probably fix this "problem", but I am concerned about impairing the effectiveness of the limited slip function. On the other hand, I am told that not enough additive will quickly burn up the clutches.

Anyone know what is normal behvior for this type of LSD?

Thanks,

DOC
