I bought the 3160 just for ABS issues. I was able to clear stored ABS codes when I first got it a month or so ago. However, today I have failed to be successful, despite multiple attempts, with making a "LR speed sensor" stored code go away, even though the scanner states, "successfully deleted". (When you then scan for codes, it is still there.)

flman,

I recall you made reference to "using a different menu" that you had more success with for deleting codes. I can only seem to find one that involves selecting ABS and then "Chrysler/Jeep". (I tried the other manufacturer "profiles" and none of them would not even communicate with the TCM.)

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

DOC

I was just wondering, did you repair the problem you are trying to clear the code on, successfully?

flman,

Yes, the rear speed sensor problem was basically corrected, but I have still been unable to clear the "stored" code. (The connector retainer is broken and I hold it on with a tywrap. Every once in a while it gets water in it and it sets a code.) The "active" code goes away as soon as the connector is making good contact again (i.e. "brake" and "ABS" lights go out right away). The 3160 worked to clear the stored code when I first got it, but now it says it has cleared the code, but when it is in "read" mode, the code is still there.

Thanks Again,

DOC
