| Post subject: | Rear Brake Pads |
According to this fitment guide http://starparts.chrysler.com/starlibrary/marketing/brakes/brakes.pdf Libertys from 2003-2005 all used the same rear brake pads: 05083882xx. In 2006 the part was changed to 05179242AA. In 2007 the part reverted to 05083882AE. Any ideas as to why the 2006 is different? Looks like some aftermarket brands use the same rear pads for 2006 as for earlier years. |

I'm not sure but I know the rear brakes on the 06 made a groaning noise on the first drive on a wet day. |

http://www.surplustraders.net/specs/sa773.php has almost 3000 sets for sale for the 2006. They must not have sold like panqueques. |

Since the OEM rear pads wore down in 28K miles, I'm going to try these: http://www.axxisbrakes.com/extended_duty.html NOPI has them at a good price. |

That is because of the humidity causing rust on the rotor which the pads need to clean off. Maybe so but they had a fix for it if I wanted to take it back in

nescosmo wrote: Very dusty and your disk will not last My application includes towing a travel trailer which weighs almost 5000 pounds. Of course the trailer has its own electric brakes, but it's good to have an extra margin of stopping ability. Semi-metallic pads are preferred for towing according to what I've read. There should be a requirement for brake pad manufacturers to provide standardized test data. Instead, the consumer is confronted with marketing hype. |

Hawk makes some pads for the front that are made for Heavy Duty driving (i.e. towing, etc). I haven't tried them yet, but will on my next replacement. |

They've been fine on my Mustang (different compound obviously), but all brake pads produce brake dust
