Good Day All: I bought my 2005 CRD "F37ed"with 38xxx on it about a year or so ago. I have put about 15k on it and and in that time I have had the TC replaced 2 times. I have the rig in the shop as we speak, the service adviser called me up and let me know that they found metal in the transmission pan and they will be replacing the entire transmission, just waiting on the parts. My question is: 1: What would cause 2 TC to fail in the 15k miles? I have towed 2 the libby 2x's checking the total weight at a truck stop and have never exceeded 2,000 lbs. 2: Has this happened to anyone else recently, if so is the replacement transmission any better or worse than the 05 OEM? Thanks all, just my quick math, Take original cost of Jeep add 15kmi + the following 2 qty EGR valves 1 qty complete boost hose replacement 1 qty BCM 1 qty IC replace 2 qty TC replace 1 qty Transmission = thanking my lucky stars that I did not cheep out on the WARRANTY!!! Cheers all! |

There were a fair number of the original's that self destructed early - that's why they did the F37 however if they didn't clean the lines - they could have had gunk in the oil which would kill the second TC and Tranny clutches - that's why some of the F37's included parts replacements if the tech heard a certain rattle - don't know how they calibrated that. The original Tranny is strong - it's the TC that's the weak point - however if you leave debris in the lines - you'll kill anything. once you're out of warranty you might want to look at the Suncoast but make sure they fix things first. |
