Post subject:  EGT and Boost Gauge install pictorial

I've just completed the install of my Prosport electronic boost and egt gauges. Here is a link to my story and pictorial on the subject:

Many thanks to patracy for his BD-X monitor posting that deals with the issues of installing the sensors.

This is the @ idle photo (KJ in Park) Boost gauge on the right: slight vacuum due to no load.

EGT (on the left) shows 400F (the X100 idicator is hidden by the needle), which is the lowest value on the gauge and even after idling for ten minutes it had barely moved above that figure. Only load increases the EGT.

Hope that helps.

Glend,
Nice install and write-up. Patracy also.
I am just about ready to install these sensors also so the posts from you fellas have really helped me out.
Regarding the inline filter that you used to keep soot and crap out of the sensor,
do you think it will affect the boost reading?
If not, I think it was a great idea to install the filter in the line as I have witnessed
quite a bit of soot in my intake and it has made me think about if the boost sensor will get clogged up.

Could you please share the inline filter's make and model #?

TIA.

Hi DocB,

The inline filter seems to have very little or no air resistance at all (its a very fine sponge material which seems to be open cell type), it certainly flows better than a small fuel type filter. I don't know the part number as it came with my gauge kit from Prosport - you could ring or email them. BTW watch out for the crappy PVC tubing that some gauge suppliers provide. It is likely to deteriorate in the heat and get brittle over time. I threw out the PVC tubing supplied by Prosport and bought some nylon pressure tubing that fit the sensor and NTP compression fitting.

Thanks Glend,

My sensor is electrical (no tubing), so I guess if I want to put in a filter I would have to rig up some kind of extender from the manifold instead of just threading the sensor straight into the manifold.
I'll have to think about this and get back to you.
All I know is that my Intake Air Temp sensor was awfully black and gunked up the last time I pulled it out.
That's not good for the IAT sensor so I couldn't see how it would be good for this sensor.
