OK guys. This morning I started up my libby to go to work like I always do, back it out the garage shift to D to start moving forward, and then... yep ABS light on. Well I was already on time for work so just made sure I could use the brakes by doing couple of harsh stops and then drove on.
When I got back home in the afternoon I did my first visual check of the ABS sensors and cables and this is what I found. The driver side sensor is route right from under the glow plug module to the wheel, passing really close to the steering column, so, as some of you might have notice already, the cables on our front ABS sensors have a bit longer length than need it. What happened was that this bit of extra cable was actually moving loose in between the steering column and the inside of the fender, which actually cause the cable to wear off rubber cover and allowed moisture inside of it creating corrosion and increasing the resistance of the sensor cooper threads turning it useless.
Thank God my spare parts bucket contained an extra sensor that I don't even remember taking off (celestial moment), but there it was. Next step you all can guess it easily. Just replace the cable and all is back to normal.
So, after so much yada yada, here is the warning. check the routing of your ABS sensor at the drivers side, specially if you have ever got a glimpse of an ABS light on. hoo yeah, also, don't forget to pray before you order parts on line, you might be able to find what you need amongst you parts bucket. :P

Here is the cable. If you look carefully you will be able to see the area where it wore off and you can even see the greenish color from the corroded cooper of the cable.

Hey, thanks for the tip. Mine has started doing that intermittantly. It'll come on, sometimes with the brake light, sometimes not, and while the brakes seem to work normally (of course, ABS is off when the light is on), the brake fluid level is normal, too. After a while, it goes off all by itself, too.

Also check the rear ABS sensor by the driver side at the differential case.
