I got a check engine light (CEL) after an ECM tune and took it to the local Advanced Auto and AutoZone to get the scan to get the code causing the CEL. Unfortunately, the scan didn't show any codes Has anyone else had this malady after an ECM tune or a CEL with no codes reported? Thanks for any help you can offer. |

I was wondering if you ever resolved this? I have a CEL and no code as well. Thanks! |

Have you been able to clear the CEL or is it burning all the time. |

When you have a CEL and can't see any codes with your scanner, you need a different scanner. A cheap one that always seems to work with ANY CRD (US '05/'06) (Engine codes, that is, you need a different one for the ABS and/or trans.) is an Innova 3030. (Many Innova models do NOT work at ALL with certain CRDs. It MUST be only this model to be sure.) (There are several iterations of software and other odd features of KJ CRDs that causes this.) However, make sure you go by the DTC list on this website, NOT the ones in the manual that comes with the scanner. DOC |

Gerge, Your CRD did not heal itself. The condition that triggered the CEL has started occurring less frequently, so the CEL is not displayed at the moment. My wife neglected to mention a CEL to me because it went out. It was a code having to do with the turbo actuator solenoid. Later, it failed, leaving her with a very long, slow trip home. I can't imagine having a CRD without the ability to at least check all engine codes. CRDs just have too many "issues". (Unless you have a close friend with a ramp truck.) DOC |

I figured it hadn't actually healed itself But I assume now that the light is out I need to wait for it to come back on to figure out why it is on. |

You should be able to scan it even if the CEL is off, the ECU should store a code. |

HUH? I wasn't aware of that.....I am more used to wrenching on sport bikes, you can't do that on those CPU's..... How can I determine if the code scanner being used is abe to pull codes for the transmission and the ABS? Would an autozone be abe to do this, the one that is .32 miles from my house will plug in for free. I am sure they would love to sell me a bunch of parts. |

Generally you can't use a basic code reader to get ABS codes, but you can ask the guy at Autozone if the one they scan for free does it. If I'm not mistaken, you can only read a transmission code if it get's stored in the ECU. The best way to do it is to let Autozone scan it, then write down the code and look here: viewtopic.php?f=98&t=40073 to find out what it is. Then post on the board and we can help find a solution. If the Autozone scanner does not pull a code, then either: A) you do not have a stored DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B) the scanner they are using does not communicate with the CRD (it's weird, some scanners just do not read the CRD. My Innova does fine, though) |
