I was just wondering if any CRD owners had found a good non dealership mechanic in the Seattle area? Im only at 55,000 miles but when the timing belt comes due I want a good experienced mechanic to tackle the job. Seems to me the dealerships lack that. Thanks. Tom |

Sorry I been away for the computer all day to get a motorhome ready to leave for Alaska. Dealer that sold it to him didn't know how to fix the many screw ups on it. I haven't done my CRD yet but will be doing it way before yours for I'm near 90,000 miles. I only been a mechanic for 40 or so years and done to many timing belts to count. I also had the honors of repairing many engines for some people don't get a new belt until it's too late. Early Ford Escorts were famous for failing on a cold morning start and taking a few valves and maybe a head with it. |

I met LUCKY CRD when he stopped by the shop to get one of my spare turbo hoses. His 05 split about 2 inches and made an oily mess. He going to upgrade to the SAMCO hoses and return the spare in case another in the area has same problem. I cleared the codes and enlighten him to the ORM since he had EGR flow problem. Dealer wanted $800 plus from him and we fixed that problem for free. The engine still sounded good at 145,000 miles.
