My girlfriend's had her '06 Limited for almost 3 weeks now and she loves it. We took it out for its first road trip this weekend from Mill Valley to Redding, CA for a mountain bike race. We made it up and back on a single tank of fuel. (Can't quite do that in my SuperDuty Diesel) We did 50 - 60 miles of city and mountain driving on that tank as well. I have done NOTHING to it yet, not even cleaned the MAP. I have a bit of a lead foot and there was enough traffic on I-5 to make using the CC impractical. Speeds were 75 - 85 on the freeway portions, so I wasn't expecting exceptional mileage, but we got 23.1 out of that tank. 440 miles, 19 gallon fill. She was quite pleased with that as she'd never done better than 18.5 (driving like we do) in her old '05 3.7. I'm using this trip's outcome as a baseline to see how things go as we make improvements to it. All I'm planning at this point is to clean the MAP, Install a ProVent and do a GDE Eco-Tune. Since it's hers, the emphasis is on longevity, economy, and maybe then very safe and conservative performance upgrades. On a personal note: I never cared much for her '05 3.7 Sport and would do just about anything to keep from "taking her car" on trips. But I really like the '06 CRD Limited. I'm looking forward to a lot of happy road trips in it. |

Do those three mods and you'll be getting over 500 miles/tank, no problem. Don't do 85, and you'll be getting over 600

Julie would be totally jazzed to get 600 miles per tank. With her driving around town, she managed just over 500 on the last tank, the first full one since she bought it. She definitely babies it, but it sure does way better than her old 3.7. Sure is nice to have have Lost KJs online. Glad I found y'all. |
