Last week I took the 05 in for some noise from the tensioner and idler... Also a oil leak and other misc issues. 2k later I am shocked. Still being under warranty I was thinking the bearing being shot on tensioner and the idler would be covered. They determined that the leak was from the Turbo hoses I was also surprised that a part that is known to fail was not covered, although they did redesign it.

Did I get taken by the stealership or are these items not drivetrain parts?

Also, is this normal? It takes a long time for any 4wd disengagement to disengage. I had it on PT 4wd shut it off coming down the road to my house aprox 500ft. stopped and reversed into my drive. Well everything was binding like it was in 4wd full, wheels chirping and all.

Thank You for all your helpful insight....

I am going to have to familiarize myself with these diesels cuz its the last time it is going to the service dpt. Except for "drivetrain" issues while under warranty.

Accessories are not covered in the powertrain warranty,or hoses.Only internally lubricated parts of the engine(actual engine, not accessories like a idler pulley),trans,t-case,and F/R diffs are covered.

Common issue with the select trac t-case,very picky about tire sizes and psi as they must be almost identical(no more then 3%-5% difference) to shift correctly. The slightest bit of binding will prevent that t-case from fully shifting into 2wd.Going out and using 4wd at least once a month helps also,as does a fluid change at least every 30k,if not sooner.
