This has been beaten to death, I know. So most warm days the Jeep runs close to the half way mark on the temp. guage. Today it's in the 50s outside and it's running two ticks below half-way on the guage. Would you consider that normal? It always runs two ticks below that mark when it's cool outside. How about you guys? Am I running cooler than you considering the weather? |

Sounds off. It should not be two ticks left of center. One at most. I bet your thermostat is opening early and you're running at 150 to 160F. Mine sits 2 ticks left of center and the scangauge says 155. |

My father's CRD has this exact same problem, and his mpg is ~3mpg lower than mine on average... this may explain why you didn't see a gain with the GDE tune. |

Mine too, LibertyCRD. I noticed that today, and this smoking-power-loss problem was WORSE than it has been in a couple weeks. OBVIOUSLY related to a cold engine somehow. |

Mine is never more than 1 tick left of center once it is warm and driving in cold weather. |

Well, I guess I'll add a t-stat to the list when I do the timing belt in the next 12 months. I'm going to have to drive this Jeep for 20 years to get back all this money I'm spending keeping it going.

Why not check the actual coolant temp before throwing money. Mine has been 1-2 ticks left of center since new. When coasting down a long mountain pass, it even goes lower than that. I get 25 mpg hwy around here, and 27-30 when going back to Missouri on I-70. |

Costs the same, easier to change later. |

Some CRD temp gauges were miscalibrated low from the factory, I think... |

Haven't had any work done except the lower ball joints. |

If your gauge is calibrated correctly, then I would check your tstat - you might be able to improve even more on your current mpg. |

A TSB won't be on Jeep.com would it. Only a recall. |

I'm wondering if you can check to see if the temp gauge TSB has been performed on your CRD. I'm thinking it may be relevant to your Jeep. |
