Ok guys, I'm seriously considering getting the Eco Tune done for better gas mileage. Can I get some honest feedback on members who have had it done. I was under the impression when I bought the Liberty that I should get upto 26 miles a gallon. Typical highway is around 23. Thoughts? |

I was getting 23-24 before the tune, now getting 26-28 avg after the tune. I'll post up real numbers later. Dave |

Ok, here's the numbers, I got the ECO tune on 4-3-10. I didn't record MPG's before, but I checked it almost every fill up and it was usually between 23-25, mostly right at 24. These are all hand calculated, miles adjusted to match gps (X1.038) Miles - Gals. -- MPG's 172.57 - 5.71 - 30.21 387.65 - 14.77 - 26.25 419.04 -15.88 - 26.38 517.44 - 18.04 - 28.68 417.17 - 14.85 - 28.08 524.4 - 18.68 - 28.07 372.12 - 11.94 - 31.16 307.35 - 10.83 - 28.4 355.31 - 13.46 - 26.39 519 - 19.31 - 26.88 138.36 - 4.58 - 30.22 358.73 - 12.88 - 27.85 475.92 - 16.04 - 29.66 339.11 - 12.66 - 26.76 184.04 - 6.73 - 27.33 318.66 - 12.49 - 25.49 290.54 - 10.05 - 28.9 407.41 - 17.04 - 23.9 488.79 - 17.43 - 28.04 268.42 - 10.7 - 25.07 411.56 - 14.26 - 28.85 447.58 - 16.9 - 26.46 - dave |

I On a trip I took from East liberty, OH to Akron, OH ~300 miles round trip, and driving a lil faster than I should, with no cruise (stupid wheel sensors) I got 23.3 mpg Pre-tune, and post tune I took my neighbor with so an extra 225Lbs in the Jeep and I got 27.4 mpg. |

Why is is that the mileage declines with amount of miles driven? I just graphed it. The less gas you pumped, the higher the likelihood you would get better mileage. Scott |

Fuel mileage on the over head went from 25-27 mpg to 28-30 now. Haven't done any hand calculated mileage. That's about 70-75% highway driving. Seat of the pants meter, it has more power, gets going with less throttle input, trans seems like it shifts better too. Less smoke too. The fun factor driving it now has gone way up...not that it was bad before the tune. |

But you will get a few more MPG then zero. |

Scott Not really sure, but it does seem to bounce around a bit. I have been getting random P069 DTC's, that may have something to do with it. gonna order a new MAP sensor for that. it seems just the real low mileage ones are the highest, but the 2 over 500 miles were over 28 mpgs. Either way, I am getting a solid 3-4 mpgs better with the tune than before. Dave |

I like that the CEL is off (I had a SEGR and never installed it, now for sale if any is interested PM me) and the Liberty does seem a bit quicker and smoother. I have filled up 3 times and the gain in MPG is not obvious yet. GDE gave some advice about clearing out the exhaust system. I will keep playing with it. A better test will be a long trip or towing where the baseline is more established. Now I had a good running CRD, for folks with problems a GDE tune would be an obvious move. |

However, the other benefits of the tune do make it VERY nice and I am very happy overall with the tune. |

This is off topic some but here goes...... I thought someone posted that if you don't have the GDE tune and you hold the break pedal and press the accelator pedal nothing would happen it would just idle? Well I never test that just believed it untill today I tried for some reason even not known to me and my engine will rev up. Is this normal is was what I thought I read not correct? |

Mine will do that too, but I think if you do it long enough you'll get an ETC error. |

I've put three tanks of fuel though my GDE Eco tune. I have to habd calc every MPG so unless the tune changed my trip, I am getting a little better fuel economy. I went from about 21-22 (10 mile drive to work 5 days a week in mixed traffic) to 24 MPG. I am also on summer fuel now, and I have been using Power Service additive, so that may have been the difference. My thermo is dead, and I have been on new samco hoses for the last two tanks only. I am also pretty sure that I now have a fuel and air problem. I'm looking forward to this summer when I will be driving 400 mile round trips all highway to school twice a week to see what my MPG can get to. (Wait that doesn't make sense. Well at least I'll see if the tune saves me money) Even if I don't get a MPG increase, I am happy with the money spent. It feels better, and I don't feel as sluggish when accelerating. One interesting observation... It seems as though my car can't explode off the line if my wheels are turned... I mean there seems to be a turbo lag... I may be crazy, but even my wife said that. You can't even spin the tires. Does that make any sense? Is there a safe guard? |

I seem to recall that Keith had said there was a slight de-tune at low rpm to prevent the invocation of the dreaded shudder from the transmission. Above 2000 it boogies. |
