So I just had a OME 1.5" spring lift installed at a 4 wheel parts shop near me.
When I came to pick up the Jeep the invoice noted that there was a CEL. Hmm, that's odd. Wasn't on when I came in. I have a GDE tune so no ORM. Counter guy goes into the back and comes out to say that they had to pull the battery to get the left strut in. That it's in a "learning" mode and I could have the CEL cleared or it would go away after awhile.
Skeptical, I hopped in. I had gone less than a block when I noticed that the turbo was whining REALLY loudly with any kind of pedal. I pulled over and checked the intercooler hoses and both seemed fine (installed Samco's last year sometime). The engine was too hot to get near the turbo. I couldn't hear any noise at idle put if I gave it any pedal you could hear it.
So I head back to the shop to tell them that it didn't sound right. I ask if they have a diesel tech who could listen to it (I assumed since they sell tuners and such) but they said no. Counter guy says, "Unplugging the battery will do that. My Volkswagen did the same thing and I had them clear the code and it worked fine."
I know there's an Autozone by my house who could read and clear the code so I tell them I'll do that and check back in the morning and off I went.
It seemed to have power (at least not the super loss of power I've seen described here when a hose blows), mileage was fine (30+ on the EVIC @ 70mph and AC on), and it handled well.
I stopped by Autozone only to find out they aren't allowed to read and clear codes any more.

After I brought it home I had my wife listen to it and she said it definitely sounded wrong (it's her daily driver).
So any thoughts? Could just R&Ring the battery cause this? Will it go away after a few start/stops? Could just the lift be allowing more "noise" out from underneath? I'm afraid they bashed something on the turbo and it's going to be expensive.
Thanks for any thoughts.
