I just got back from a fast downhill run off of Cottonwood Pass. I took the turns pretty fast. About half way down. I was smelling brakes. I thought it was the flat lander I was following that was riding his brakes. I used mine sparingly, and used the OD off button most of the time. When I got home, the drives side rear rotor was cherry red. I freaked and put a house fan on it till it was cool. I backed it out of the driveway and it rolled freewheeling down our driveway. No dragging brakes. WTF!!! Did the stupid yaw sensors in the ESP make my brakes overheat? |

Good chance. Once when I was towing a VW van with a tow bar I had to shut off the ESP to not have it drive me nuts with over correction, when I was towing on hilly twisty back roads. After I got to the straight shot roads, ESP was OK. Spinning your rear wheels will also trash the rear pads, now I use 4 X4 in the winter when the road is slick. You may want to shut the ESP off when you are doing off road stuff. |

It wasn't off road. It was all highway but it was the twisties style turns. A lot of snap right, then back left stuff going 50 mph. I just road tested it 20 miles at 65 mph on a straightaway, and got out and all is fine. No heat at all. Stupid ESP I suppose. I'll keep an eye on it for a few days. |

No idea I have driven my CRD on the Nuerburgring and several auto-X events with the ESP only coming on when I was spinning the rear tires. It will 4 wheel drift to a point before the ESP would kick in. Maybe your steering input needs to be a little bit smoother and the ESP will not detect the jerkyness as loss of traction. No busting on you driving style just offering a suggestion. |

I wasn't being smooth with my turns and there was 950# of passengers in there so body lean was a factor. 200 miles later and no sign of the brake heat returning. |
