Are rear discs easy to change with pads? Rotors are dug in pretty good I might just go ahead and replace 76k miles

rear rotors are not easy to change.
you have emergency brake drum brakes inside the rear rotors.
there's normally a ridge and it's a pain to get off.

However it is a good idea to change them, new ones work better
(I used NAPA premium)

I also used NAPA premium front and rear pads and my CRD stops on a dime; they are superb.

What causes the ridge? It's not like the parking brake is engaged when the wheel is turning. I have never used my parking brake.

So does anyone have a manual to change rear disc rotors and pads? Ive done fronts few times on different models. Rear drums on wranglers have me stumped lol. Ive found a great deal wagner thermo quiet pads/wearever rotors. Will post my findings once I order dont want them to sell out lol. Should I skip rear rotors and use what I have even though I do see ridges. $10 to turn them but for another $10 I get new rotors!

My rotors were in good shape at 70k so I didn't change them. I thought I read about the E brake dragging on some? That could cause a ridge.

PS If I got stumped on rear brakes on my Wrangler, I'd do some thinking before taking the rear rotors off my Liberty.

My rotors were still good at 62000. Just used Napa pads, worked great.

Do I need special tool and turn the piston clockwise? Open bleeder valve and turn in, close it. With tool I flip the rear parking brake tightner wheel loose UP. Does rotor just pop off. It seems easier than drums? Just want to be sure im mentaly prepard no suprise. 13mm wrench maybe 14mm. Im about ready to order up parts. There was video on youtube jeep liberty fronts. Looks super easy on jeep im used to bmws not so easy.

This was Jeepster on adjusting the rear
to pull it - just loosen until you can pull the rotor

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=14757&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=adjust+emergency+brake&start=15

generally a couple of different length flat blade screwdrivers work
stubby for space - long handle for leverage

Ok just ordered all new stuff F,R pads and rotors, though my fronts are fine.

advanceautoparts has a real good deal! Add wagner thermo quiets and 2 wearever rotors In promo box put BIG40 $81 bucks with free ship plus wagner has $15 off each set pads mail in rebate. I used coupon code twice (make 2 orders to get most coupon) just clear your cookies. Hope this helps a fellow member $167 total minus $30 good deal for all new parts. I think just putting pads on would work but lets say another 25k miles be bummer if a vib started and ended up doing whole thing again.

It was a pain in the butt to get my rear passenger side rotor off. I pounded on it with a mallet, then a hammer, and was about to go get a wheel puller. That was when I realized I had the parking brake on from the night before. :banghead: After that, it came right off, so did the one on the drivers side.
