| Post subject: | My Mechanic Needs HELP |
My engine died while driving about a week ago and thew a bunch of codes. Several sensors were 'short to ground.' Mechanic says fuse #16 in the K347 circuit that protects the ECM, EGR, FCV, glow plug module, boost pressure solenoid, and vacuum reservoir solenoid KEEPS BLOWING. I just checked the pdf manual for 'fuse 16.' It says: 'fused ASD relay output'. . . k347 20BR/YL I laid a large padlock on power dist center in that area and closed the hood on it not long before the engine died. Hopefully the damage can be found in that area. ANY ideas welcome |

It sounds like you might have damaged the internals of the fuse box and it is shorting across one or more terminals. |

Also you might want to check the wiring harness that runs along the back of the engine, some have experienced issues with it fraying and causing all sorts of weird issues. |

Problem solved. Mechanic had it running in short order. There was a communication glitch about that. The ASD fuse replaced and all back to normal. I was unaware of the auto shutdown relay AND its fuse. Some of the codes I had were: P2295 fuel pressure regulator 2 control circuit low P0670 glow plug controller circuit malfunction P1251 vacuum reservoir solenoid short-to-ground P0047 boost pressure solenoid short-to-ground P0091 fuel quality solenoid short to ground (several others I didn't save) I couldn't find any way to trace the circuits and locate a blown fuse. I've looked at the FSM and still can't find a way to trace this out. How many of you all could have found this problem? responses highly appreciated. |
