I have a 2005 CRD, I know the ball joint issue is now believed to affect at least 2004 and earlier Libertys. Does anyone know if the 2005 has the same ball joints and should we expect similar problems? |

I asked one of the techs shortly after buying the Liberty and he said yes, they still was using same ball joints and had only done heat shields. He made the comment, that when they started going bad to put in none OEM with the grease fittings. The ball joints have never been replaced in my old '87 Jeep and it is aproaching the 250,000 mile mark, but they were greased with mobil 1 grease all their life.

IF they are the same ball joints they will have the same failure. IF they do fail, make sure you file a complaint with the NHTSA. If enough people file a complaint it will prompt government action and force DC to do something about it. |
