Yup, finally installed the TC, pre-F37 TCM (or so it is supposed to be Overall, it was not so bad, though it cut my time on doing the Transgo mod, so it's delayed to an ulterior date. Testing so far confirms the fix for the shuddering but the pre-F37 TCM does not act differently from my previous TCM, which makes me question the validity of my original research (checking vehicle record through VIN) when I purchased it. Is there a way to confirm, other than by behavior, that the TCM has indeed not been F37-tampered with? Serial number? Reading through ODBII?Thx! |

Happy to hear your T/C is replaced. I hope you put loctite on the bolts. I did not the first time and it cost me, but the replacement T/C shuddered anyway. Cannot help with the TCU other than ask Green Diesel. EVIC...what is that all about? |

| Post subject: | Determining firmware version of TCM |
If you know someone with a VAG-COM for VW's with a smart enough dongle (mine is a HEX+CAN) it will read the part number of the ECM and TCM. The last two positions of the TCM's part number are alphabetic and are the firmware version. AJ is the F37 and current version. The numeric part of our at least 06 model year TCM is P56044737 My January 06 production came with a P56044737Ai pre F37 version per the tag. I bought a used tcm and the part number on the tag indicated an earlier 56044737AF. I installed it in my jeep and it preformed just like my P56044737AJ version and vag-com indicated it was indeed the later AJ I tried having it "updated" to the older firmware but that turned into an expensive waste of money and time Despite three phone calls requesting the "dead" tcm be returned it has not been and it's been over a month since the last call Long story made short, don't waste your money trying to get the pre f37 version After getting a new "euro" tc installed I had my ECO tune updated to the "full torque eco tune" and am very happy with the F37 tune towing my 3500 travel trailer. |
