Post subject:  New CRD owner

Hey all, my father just gave me his 06 crd limited(towing package, offroad package) with 143xxx miles. Thing Is mint and Still runs fantastic. I'm here to ask for suggestions on lifts. I've looked around at frankenlifts and a few there, but I don't know much right now. Along with the lift(subtle lift, 2.5-3 inches) I'm looking to fit some rubicon moabs under there(as big as I can get without rubbing and modding or cutting).

Basically can I get some good suggestions towards what's good and what's not. I am on a budget but am looking at all options.

I'm also looking for some subwoofer suggestions. I want a single 12, just enough so I get some kick.

Thanks a lot guys!

I think that Jeep sells a sub woofer and the KJ might already have the wiring under the drivers seat. just plug and play. Other members tell me if I am wrong.

Welcome, you could probably check the non CRD side of the forum for speaker questions, I may be wrong, but I hear you can only lift the front of the CRD 1 1/2"?

They say you can only lift a CRD 1.5"...which is why the Daystar spacer kits are shorter in the front for the CRD than they are for the gas models.

However... I have the front of mine lifted 2.5" right now and my CV joints are not at a bad angle at all. In fact, when I got my CRD, the CVs were at the exact same angle they are right now, except in the opposite direction. So as far as 2.5" lift kits go.. I say go for it. There is no reason to limit yourself to 1.5" on a CRD.

What lift do you happen to have on your crd? As far as I have checked frankenlifts offers the 2.5 lift for the crd as well. As for the sub I'll check into the factory jeep sub thanks! And for tire sizes I think I can fit 245/75/16 under after a 2.5 lift. Am I right?

My Frankenlift II from All J settled to 2". CV angles are very tame.

So i think I've found the sub im going to get, so no issues there.

I'm almost undoubtedly going with the frank 2 for a lift, Im just curious to know if i can fit moabs with some more aggressive(possible stock moab) tires on there without rubbing?

Thanks for the input guys.

Edit: looking at the OME-OME CRD spring lift from all J. Will this be suited to everything i need for the lift? As far as i've read through it includes everything i will NEED to lift it, and it will reuse stock parts to make everything work well. The price is right for this kit and yes, it will be installed by a certified mechanic that has worked on this jeep many times, he's also a friend of my dads.

Yes, 4 OME coil springs, 2 extra rear isolators (in addition to the existing 2 you already have), 2 front struts, 2 rear shocks, and a partridge in a pear tree. That's all you need to lift it.

Longer bumpstops are nice from what I have heard, though I've never needed them. And if you want, you can also order his strut spacers for the front or use some conduit washers. But all this is optional.

My eventual plan is 2 top plate spacers, 2 Bilstein struts, and 2 OME 790 springs ONLY for the front of mine. Then 2 OME 948 springs and 4 factory isolators for the rear (I already have Skyjacker H7088 shocks back there for the proper length). This combo will be the best ride quality, and simplest lift possible for the CRD (other than just doing spacers like I have now).

You can lift a CRD 2.5" and the Frankenlift is the final word in lifts for a CRD. If you go with those spacer deals, factor in the replacement costs of everything else that will break over and over again until you buy the FL.... best to wait and do it right the first time... cheap is expensive.

As far as subwoofer, the Stealthbox by JL Audio is the best conceived subwoofer system for a KJ. There's one available in the for sale section too.

Yeah I think I'm going to go with the full l the first time and do it the right way. I think I'm going to go with tires and rims before I get a sub because wheeling is more important than music for now! :JEEPIN:

Thanks everyone! Let me know if you see any 03-07 moabs for sale :seuss:
