Just bought a 2006 CRD, about 55k miles. Is there a way to tell if it has already been GDE tuned, or any other mods such as Lift pump, etc.. ?

Email us your VIN at support@greendieselengineering.com and we will be able to let you know if it has been tuned. If it has the previous owner would have most likely told you about it as it adds value to the vehicle...then again it never hurts to make sure.

You heard from GDE about their awesomesauce, here is the answer about a lift pump:

Turn the key on (don't start) and just listen quietly. If you hear anything buzzing from either the back end by the tank or up front at the filter - You have a lift pump. If no buzzing... You have a stock system.

If you have been reading here much, you probably already know that you want a lift pump. Trust me, you do. Unplug the fuel heater (Right-hand plug on the filter head, closer to the driver's side edge of the engine bay) until there is snow on the ground, especially if you do not have a lift pump. If it is wet - You have a fuel leak and need a replacement filter head.

Read through Sam's NooB CRD Guide (Sticky thread) and let us know if you have any questions from the mountain of smart that is in that thread.

Welcome to the club!

It should go up to 1000 RPM momentarily on a cold start, if not no tune, but see what GDE has to say?

I never installed a lift pump.
