| Post subject: | Service Engine light reset |
Hey there, My service engine light came on last week, I took it to the dealership they told me that the #3 glow plug was faulty. I just finished replacing it and the light came back on. Does the computer automatically reset itself or do I have to bring it back to the dealership to get reset? |

it'll reset itself ~3 engine cycles after the problem is fixed. (each cycle is cold to operating temp) the other issue is - did you verify that it was #3 some of the harnesses are on backwards - 1,2,3,4 is really 4,3,2,1 for the plug it doesn't matter - for troubleshooting - it's a pain. however if you pull the 4 pin connector - measure the connector to ground - a good glow plug is .5 to 1 ohm (some meters won't read that low) - bad is commonly 100+ - then pull the glow plug cap you suspect - and remeasure it should read open |

Thanks for the response! The light went out, so I guess it was the right glow plug and the wiring harness is on correctly. Maybe that problem was mainly in the US. Thanks again! |
