Post subject:  P1001 Fault Code

This weekend I installed my GDE Eco Tune with their Code Reader tool--super easy and convenient and can now switch been Eco and Hot when needed.

Even though I had no CEL, I scanned for fault codes with the reader and got a "P1001".

I poked around here and found:
P1001/P1002 - Engine Off Timer Faults

...what exactly is this fault? Everything seems to be running great.

The ECU performs diagnostic checks after turning the key off for 5-10 seconds prior to powering down. Sometimes the P1001 will be set if the unit is not powered long enough. It tends to be a random fault. Just use the flash tool to clear the code and it most likely will not return. In either case, it does not set a CEL and will not effect vehicle operation.
