That's up from 28.6 MPG highway before the tune. Last winter, my combined city/highway mileage had dropped to 20 MPG. I bought a Fia grill cover which installs very easily. The Fia cover brought my mileage up to 24plus MPG, city/highway. I'm very pleased with the GDE tune. I would recommend it. I can't wait to get Kapalczynski's new thermostat housing!!!!!

I have seen an improvement with the combo as well. My LTD is like driving a standard the way the tune locks up the drive line and keeps the gears in high.

28 MPG HIGHWAY is very believeable. I can just about pull that with my lift and these heavy AT tires.

But the second that you add ANY stop and go to the equation at all... that number drops off like a rock. That's why if you look at what people are getting real-world with these Jeeps on fuelly.com.. you'll see that the average is low-20s.

I get 24 doing 70-75 85 pct highway with the ORM and EHM only

At that speed I doubt a tune would matter, you are locked up, and feeding fuel to keep the beast moving.

Living in MA, RI, at that speed on any of the *95 highways you're in the right lane and the trucks are going around you.

I am thinking about the 215/85/16's but they seem to knock down the mileage.
And the stp from the CAT back. I already have to AMSOIL filter in the box.
I think the FIA winter cover would help. not sure the summer would do anything but keep the bugs and crap out of my radiator which is a good thing regardless.

Striperman,

At the highway speeds you are running, a GDE tune would most likely get you an additional 3 mpg. Running 75-80 mph here in Michigan we average around 27-28mpg. As the winter months are approaching, a radiator blanket and removing the accordian snorkel on the air box to allow warmer engine comparment air also provides a significant boost in fuel economy.

x2. I get slightly higher mpgs running 75mph through the mountains with the GDE eco tune than I got doing 65mph on a flat interstate prior to the tune. Right around 29 or so.

I have to agree with you guys there, I don't do alot of highway, but I did do about 30 MPG on the last trip I took, about 5 hrs or interstate.

My Jeep really doesn't like the hills and speeds above 70. I on the trip down to New Orleans from Tennessee I got 24.5 mpg , with a GDE tune running 70-75 most of the way. I don't remember where it was, it was around New Orleans because the terrain had been flat, but I did a top off at about 3/4 of a tank and got 30 mpg going 65.

Is there any scanner that will read boost? I have always thought it might be low on my jeep.

I agree with this. In all my testing, I've found that 70 or higher will net me the same MPGs as driving in the city. The SWEET spot for this Jeep is on a 55 MPH highway with the torque converter locked in 5th and just cruising along. The slower you can keep it, the better the MPGs will be. As soon as you hit the interstate, the MPGs drop off fast.
