As as noobie to the CRD world, I bought mine in June 2008 as 2006 CRD, I had never heard of the F37 recall until I read about it here.
How does one qualify for the F37 recall? I've several posts that indicate part of the recall is the install of the new Euro TC.

Your CRD most likely has been neutered. All 06 and 06 model year crd's qualified and most were preformed.

If your thinking about getting a new torque converter out of the deal first you need to know the build date of your CRD. If it's before November 05 it originally came with a tc prone to very early failure, early as in a few thousand miles. The pre 11/05 production date ones had the converter replaced with the same tc that was used in those from 11/05. All CRD's in the US, 05 and 06 model years, were subject to the F37 customer satisfacation bulliten.

It was a two edged sword because they changed shift points by raising them around 5 mph. They also limited the engine torque, originally as high as 301 foot pounds, to 260 foot pounds. So they took the guts out of it and what it had left was renered useless because the highter shift points.

You can tell if the TCM (trans missioncontrol module) and ECM (engine control module) have been neutered by when your final shift takes place under easy acceration. Basically it's 59 mph per the speedometer or around 64 mph per the spedometer. If it's 59 mph then stay away from the dealer's computer.

Recap. Those built before 11/05 got a tc, reflash and possibly a new front pump. Those from 11/05 and onward just got the flash.

You first should go online to the jeep site and check your vin for outstanding recalls. But this was not offocially a recall, it was acustomer satisfacation bulliten.

Your next question is going to be "how do I know if I got the tc with newer heavier springs TC?" The question is then IF yours was replaced WHEN! I believe the newer TC, called Euro TC" here because it was developed for the new more powerfull VM engine CRD engines that are available available in Europe and the rest of the world other then NA was developed and made the offocial 05/6 tc in July of 09.

Read the CRD TEC section but note it's not for posting questions right after you read Sam's CRD Nobie thread.

5th shifts at 63 mph on the speedometer, so I know I have the F37 flash.
I have 70K on the vehicle, I have put 44k of it on myself. I also have towed my 22' boat (approx. 3500 lbs including trailer) for the last 3 seasons, without issue during or after towing including trips up to 200 mi one way.
I'll check the VIN tonight and thank you for your answer.

Bill

The tune still works - but the TC may not live long
(I've got the Suncoast)

Works fine with the old TC... I know a number of folks running it, including myself.

Really, the tranny tune just changes the TCM not the ECM right?

As long as you don't have the hot tune, I had the hot tune, OE converter and F37 and it would shudder like hell.

Right  It takes two tunes to get it back to where it was new :CAMPING: the ECO "full torque" tune feels like it would have made "minced meat" of my original TC :dead:

Yup... I'm running the Eco Tune and TCM Tune with no issues on the F37 TC
