I have been searching for some information on this and haven't been able to find anything.

Has anyone had any experience with replacing or maintenance on the fuel return junction? I appear to a seep/leak in that area not dripping on the ground, but the area is wet. I am not sure if I am simply missing clamps or if it is something that needs to be replaced. The front hose, which leads to the injectors appears to be broken/loose , again not sure if this is normal. which brings up another question....anyone know where to get the part...besides the stealership.

I wonder if a standard hose clamp would tighten the junction. Zips ties are great for other things and I can't see them providing the pressure necessary for a pressurized fuel system.

jmoomaw: Thanks for the reply.....yeah I agree, that was an initial attempt :oops: I need to get some of the small hose clamps and try that. I am concerned that they may cause more harm than good though, the small hose appears loose, not sure if this is normal, I don't want to cause more harm than good.

The junction block is plastic, the dealer will charge you dearly. You can make one out of 1/4" NPT Ts, some barbed fittings, and Teflon tape. Since it is on the return line, you won't get air into the system and cause issues or have to worry about pressure leaks. The clamps are spring type clamps and are a big pain to remove, I used regular worm clamps when I installed my fuel cooler.

stop me if I am wrong but the return line has no or little pressure so a snug fit on connections is all you need------

@ warp2diesel: That an idea I hadn't thought about yet...might have to give that a shot. I figure the dealer part would be pretty spendy. It's not that the plastic part is bad, just has some loose fitting connections on the hoses, especially the little one. Going to have to find a real small hose clamp for that one.

If my memory recalls, back in the day, the Navistar 7.3 used to get plenty of leaks at the return tees, but they were more like a banjo with 2 barbs coming out at opposed 90 deg angles and not all that expensive. But that was no exotic engine with a 2 year US production run. That was still the good old days when all you needed was a block, and an injection pump, no excessive stupid CARB or EPA laws back then. That engine was so simple, you did not need a forum or an OBDII scanner.
