I've read a lot about a SEGR are they available and how much? |

TurboTim invented the SEGR and UFO built them for those who do not make electronics stuff. Check out the CRD Tech section posts. Do the ORM and Unplug the MAF sensor on the Air Cleaner, it will more or less turn off the EGR unti you can get one vand install it. Of course, read the CRD Tech Section on ORM first. GDE tunes shut off the light and reduce the EGR but do not eliminate the EGR. Best plan is to have the equivalent of a EGR Vasectomy/Tubal Ligation by using the SEGR. Add a plate to seal it off for good. |

Hi BikerJohn, I stille have some SEGR kits available if you are still in the market. |

I have an early kit I would sell cheap. Never assembled. |

I'd like to get one of these. I got a '06 CRD two days ago and I love it. Frankly, I'd love to come up with a way to get rid of all of the emissions BS (for offroad use only, of course) without having a CEL on the dash. (CEL Drives me nuts...) Where can I get the info to build on of these? Or, how much do you fellas want for one and to whom do I speak to get it? Thanks! Tom |

Not exactly on topic, but just wondered if it would be a good idea to get rid of the EGR on the 3.7 gasser as done on CRD? Does the EGR on the 3.7 cause any problems like the CRD? |

I'm not aware of any issues with the egr on the 3.7 gas motor. The problem with EGR on a diesel is diesel exhaust has a high particulate content (soot) that clogs all kinds of stuff up. EGR valves on Gassers have been done for years and most problems with them have been long worked out. I suspect if the EGR was disabled, you'd have less clean exhaust and a tiny bit more efficient engine in certain conditions, but I don't think you'd see the advantages that the diesel gets. You'd probably get far more from eliminating the catalytic converter (illegal under fed law for street use, but then again, so is disabling the egr...) JMHO, and YMMV of course. |

Thanks for the response, you are probably right on the EGR. Not sure about the catalytic converter tho-we have two sensors on each converter to adj mixture and probably timing and who knows what else. It would be impossible to "fake out" the absense of these sensors and gain anything. MHO |

Impossible to fake those out? . . . . . . . . . . . . Don't believe everything the EPA tells you... The truth is out there. Anything that has been locked can be unlocked. Any sensor can have a simulator built to duplicate the "proper" information and thus bypass the badness. The answer to the meaning of life, the secret of the universe and everything is 42. But what is the question? |

If you disabled the gas EGR you would likely see worse gas mileage. That egr is pumping gasses back in to minimize pumping losses when you are not at WOT. |

Unlike the diesel which detonates (that is the knock we all hear) on every power stroke. You don't want the Gasser to detonate but start the burning with the spark plug. On the Gasser the EGR has been engineered to help prevent detonation in addition to the EPA/CARB NOX crap. Remove the EGR from your gasser, you risk putting holes in your pistons or destroying the rings or ring lands. also it lets you run a higher compression ration in a gasser with out having to run premium fuel. In my opinion, let some idiot do the destructive testing on the gassers by removing the EGR. For Diesels EGR is VERY STUPID and DESTRUCTIVE. If you want to do something for your gasser, look into plasma ignition, it burns all the fuel and can create more power, plus it is totally legal and reduces emissions. EPA/CARB has no miss givings with anyone having Photon Torpedoes (effectively what Plasma Ignition is) firing away inside the gasser combustion chambers. One source: http://www.aquapulser.com/performance_i ... stems.html Caterpillar has done research with Plasma Ignition for Diesels, that would mean Bye Bye Glow Plugs |

Ok, so it's not a good idea to eliminate EGR on gasser. As far as impossible to fake the sensors on cat., that was a poor choice of wording, but it would require a lot of effort for probably little return. A lot of window comparators for all the variables involved. Thanks for the input-- |

I dunno about little return, you'd be amazed how much power is stolen by those cats... Regardless, I'd still like to know where I can get a SEGR kit or what have you. Tom |
